meters vs feet for paths

1 meter = 3.28 feet. Agree ? Good now that's out of the way.[wink]

Anyway I changed my path measurements to feet from the get go and it runs from 13 feet to 33 feet in increments of 1
So 13 14 15 16 ft. etc..all the way up to 33ft.
I am fairly sure Meters runs by 1's also I am not sure what the meters width ends at but I do believe they start at 4m.
So 4 5 6 7m etc. to whatever the end width is.

IF they are True measurements than I have a much wider range of of control using feet over the meters setting.[shocked]
If this is also True than why have meters at all?[wacky]

Just some food for thought.[yum]

Wait what, can you really build paths of 13, 14, 15, ... feet width?

Now I want paths of 4,5 meters :(

And yea, it doesn't make sense indeed :)

No. And it's annoying. The slider give's more increments in feet, but still only gives you the same size increments of meters.
It's easier to just use meters.

Out of interest, does it make any difference when building coasters and changing the elevation of the track?

Wondering if it will help make smoother inclines/ hill/ yumps.

Is it a setting on the main menu? I'll have to log in in a bit and check I didn't even know you could switch between the measurements.

I didn't even think about the coaster track difference, (Provably because I haven't built a coaster in months.)
But that's another reason to use feet over meters right there. IF the measurements are true.

It maybe Easier but if it is less precise than I am going to have to go with Feet.
I have seen people build stuff and lay a path and it be partially in the wall or have a gap away from it. so with feet I can close the gap or shrink it to not be in the Wall.
Also as with what Charley stated It could provide a better control over building Coasters as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong Bitter, but I think he was saying that even though they give you more feet measurements, they still only utilize meters. So if you choose say... 17ft, 18ft, or 19ft, you are still only going to get a 6m path.

I've only popped into the game so not tested extensively but it seems Bitter and Wablamo are correct, at least as far as coasters go. It seems to still work in the same sort of increments, it works of degree of incline rather than height, assuming snap to angle is on and without it "rounds up" to the nearest "click"...

I noticed this and meant to post about it after launch but holidays got busy and well you know. But I'm glad you bring this point up. When they integrated the Imperial system I feel like conversion got skewed a tad as wel. Maybe it's just me but I've noticed some small litte annoyances with using imperial vs metric. Although, this could also be just due to the fact that I've been playing since first Alpha and I probably just got very accustomed to metrics.

I tend to switch out my Measuring stick based on my task.....
If I'm building a Coaster I switch into "Feet".
Anything else I switch back to Meters because that seems to be the Unit the building editor, Terrain editor, and Path editor are built around.
