Considering Richard Hammond actually had dirt in his brain and he turned out OK, I wouldn't write off Schumacher's recovery.
I read today he's likely going to be an invalid for the rest of his life.
It will be a miracle if he gets to speak and eat and dress without help. And in general there are no miracles
AFAIK hes not awake, just no longer in a medically induced coma. Prognisis not good but heres hoping for the best!
He is conscious and able to hear voice. During the ambulance journey from Grenoble to Lausanne, he communicated with the ambulance officers with head nodding

Hopefully in a year we'll be laughing about how wrong the Dr's were. The human machine is capable of astonishing feats of recovery and neuroscience is making leaps and bounds everyday.
