Game Discussions Microsoft Flight Simulator

Standard for me initially since it's free...but I'll possibly upgrade once released. I'll certainly add paid for content and addons via the store as they appear.

Same. I will give it a go on Xbox, if performance is dismal i will try it on the pc side. If its really good I might even upgrade. Hoping for economic / business sim management modules at some point even just passengers and cargo developing a company or something.

When I do a new computer next year might even do a hotas if my back improves and can tolerate sitting. I almost got one for Elite but ending up being satisfied with mouse and keyboard. The big hotas turn off for me is putting it on the desk and having my hand much higher up than on a keyboard or a mouse. I would likely need a specialty desk / table setup to accommodate that.

There's a plethora of 3rd party hardware mounts for HOTAS rigs so you can mount them onto chair arms, desk edges etc, etc.... Some are gimballed so you can swing them out of the way when not in use, most are adjustable for height and reach...relatively inexpensive too.

When Elite's player numbers drop next weekend, Steam Numbers Will Not Count!

It's not like we have a ton of flight simmers in this game, or anything.

Try and give away CQC, after Star Wars Squadrons, and Steam Numbers Really Won't Count!

Make sure it's sturdy. I used a military surplus steel desk in the old days, with the stick bolted on.

I bent the desktop and side... :(

I am really torn on this. On the one hand, I want everything, because I'm greedy (and a bit of FOMO) - but it's a lot of £££ and the differences between Standard (which is 'free' with Gamepass) and 'Premium Deluxe' is a bunch of things I probably don't care about right now. What interests me more is the possibility of more specific addons which will interest me, and presumably they work with Standard too. So I dunno whether it is worth waiting to see what happens there, or whether I just pull the trigger now on Premium Deluxe and then think about addons later & buy fewer of those since money isn't unlimited... decisions... decisions...

I can't see Microsoft gating certain upcoming content to specific versions... which is reassuring. I suspect that the dlc or add-ons will be the main market once the game is released, outside of the proposed paid for in house DLC add-ons. I can't imagine anyone not buying the helicopter add-on for instance...and I'm certain that the cooperation between MS and one of the biggest 3rd party content developers for the likes of X plane (Can't remember their name) is going to bode well.

Here's a list of them anyway: ... MSFS 2020 3rd party developers

The only thing that I think would be nice to have in Premium would be Schiphol (Amsterdam) airport, simply because I've been there so many times, but I can live without it. It's not like there's not plenty more of the world to discover and play with. So I'm torn between what I said, and simply buying Standard and saving the £50 or so towards buying city addons, which would be more interesting & fun to visit.

Hopefully they won't withdraw the option from sale too quickly and I have time to make the choice. Because as things stand, I don't even know if it will run well on my PC. That's what the Gamepass install is for.

My intention is to just see how it goes once I've downloaded it and play it...if everything works as it seems it does from the media I've watched so far, I'll certainly consider upgrading to premium via the MS store if only to support the project...or might just wait to see what 3rd party additions will offer first if I'm happy and content with what's on offer in the standard version.

I've no real intention to ever visit any of the larger airports to be fair so they don't really interest me. Similarly, I very much doubt I'll ever sit in the virtual cockpit of any of the offered airliners...but that's just me.

If I ever get it, It will just be me, a 172, and US 66... :)
Done that East to West on a hired Harley and some camping gear many moons ago...it took me a bit longer than I planned...I was distracted near Salt Lake City by some Ladies of Harley I met at a roadside diner who thought my Scots accent was really cute 🤗

...As for the sailplanes and ultralights...planned.

I try and gravitate towards Steam wherever I can, just for practical reasons. Steam runs all the time - I have to manually fire up any other game launcher. So I also have to bear in mind that any settings or changes I make to the Gamepass version will not carry over to Steam. There's even a risk that addons will be the same.

And right now I basically feel the same way, however I can't deny I've become rather excited by the whole prospect of this sim after watching so many videos. I could see me getting into this in a very big & expensive way in the future. I'm starting to compile a rather large list of places to go and things to do in this "game", once I earn my wings.

Time will tell on that, but I know that if I do, I'll regret not buying the Premium edition when I had the chance. Because as things stand, unless it runs like an absolute dog (and I don't think it will, my PC is OK), there's no question I won't be relying on the Gamepass rental and I will be buying this. It's even making me question my "no pre-ordering games ever" rule. That's saying something.
