Game Discussions Microsoft Flight Simulator

Is it free for those with Microsoft gamepass Ultimate? If not...I'll wait out since it's a bit too much on the expensive side for my liking. I've spent a fair bit on my main flight sim, IL2 Great Battles over the years (as much as I spent on Star Citizen to be fair) and since it's purely a commercial/civilian flight sim, MSFS might not interest me as much when compared to the IL2 series which has everything from accurately modelled tanks to WW1/WW2 aircraft.

The lack of a 'mission' generator or some form of career mode would relegate it very quickly to the 'play very occasionally' games SSD for me...a bit like Eurotruck sim 2, even though that has a career mode.

First month is $1, then something like $4, so at the very least it costs peanuts to try it.
I think this game will thrive on individual and emerging content. I will definitely trace back my travels, and once I git gud, I will very interested in taking part in long distance races.

I think you'll still be able to buy the version upgrades later if you at some point decide to get the extra planes. It will probably cost a bit more than buying the deluxe version from the get go, but dilluted in time the extra cost will probably not be that much.

I am pretty certain that I will pick it up as permanent game especially once VR support will be added. I'd just prefer to buy it on Steam.
The deluxe versions: while the airports are truly some cool ones I've been to IRL, I guess it is mainly the extra planes that provide the real value. At this point I'm not that familiar with them to make a call whether any of those are a must have.

I already have MS gamepass ultimate...a tenner a month basically but my Xbox live subs (I gameshare with my sons on my Xbox account) are tied in with that too so I prefer it that way, with the free gamepass games on PC it's well worth it for me. If MSFS appears free with gamepass like all new EA games released on Origin access premier for pc, I'll download it....otherwise it's not worth it :)

Really!? The 18th of August!?!? I'd set my expectations for late 2020.

Flipping nora... those waves rolling in looked good... it's it too early to say 'squeee'?

It would be great if there was a Grumman HU-16 Albatross included and a de Havilland Beaver, but I suspect these will arrive at some point.

If we're ever getting warbirds (which I highly doubt, btw. unless they enable mods), I want a Tigercat and the Mosquito. My two all time favourites.
Never gonna happen, though. sad face

Warplane-wise my top list would be probably F-86, SR-71, F-14, Mig-21 and Mig-35 in no particular order. :)
Otherwise it would be great to have older planes with more interesting engine configurations like DC-10, Tu-154...

OA explains it all in a bit more detail here:

TL;DR: starting from the 18/08, the 4 € I donate monthly to Microsoft will get even more worthy of what they already are. :)

Will this only be available via the Microsoft Store, or will it also be available through places like Steam? Will I be required to be logged into my Microsoft account (which I haven't been since buying this new laptop) to play FS2020?

For now it does seem to be the case. No Steam announcements yet.

Oh well, at least I don't have to install another store app (MSS comes preinstalled). And with a game like FS2020, the less running in the background (cough Steam cough), the better. 🤷
I'm actually not all that ecstatic about this. I had to log into the microsoft store for the first time when I was invited to the Alpha and among other things the login process requires filling in your home address which... surprised me to say the least. Plus it logs you into all kinds of other bloatware present in W10.
Not a huge fan.

Yikes! Well then, hmmm. I might wait a bit. I waited a good year before getting RDR2, mainly to allow time for all the bugs to be found and squashed. Perhaps eventually FS2020 will come to Steam like FSX. Either that or XPlane 12 will offer FS2020 graphics.

In the meantime, I can always try out DCS and continue watching Youtube videos of real pilots flying over my favorite places on earth.

It's a darn shame we have to give up so much privacy to play a computer game.

Not sure whether it is possible to fully avoid it via Steam, but that's one of the reasons I'll wait and probably rent it via XBox Live or whatever that is called.
