Midnight Canyon Run

I am a huge fan of high speed low level flying in Horizons. Isinona pretty much got me hooked on the freedom FA-OFF flying gives you.

Am now on the hunt for the most challenging and scenic locations within our galaxy,if anyone knows some great locations please PM me or leave a message here :)

Well I am defintely not a Youtuber or professional content creator, my skills consist of pressing play and hoping for the best.

Apologies for the dodgy quality/FPS, the video below is clips from a few runs I did over the weekend.

Runs are from two beautiful locations 'Binary Sunset run in the Utu System' 'Mitterland Holland run with an eclipse every minute or so' Extremely challenging flying during the eclipses, but a huge amount of fun in VR.

This should be an extreme virtual sport. The IEagle tops out at 1454 Km/h I am addicted! :D

Lol, none whilst I filmed on the weekend. Over the past 2 months - Couldn't even count the number of times I limped back to a station on life support :D

The Imperial Eagle is definitely one of my favourite ships now.

Great flying, what happened to the sound? and what is the top boost speed on that thing, maybe we could do some canyon race, me in the iCourier and that Eagle.

EDIT
Never mind, it was my fault. Sound is on :)

Definitely mate, always looking for cmdr's to fly with. I was using my scout ship in those clips, it's a heavy build (SRV/top shields), max speed is around 419 m/s, a lightweight build should be able to push it a little further.

My courier is around 300 / 410 however its a combat build I haven't tried the iEagle yet but I will give it a try for sure. Love those canyon races.

Ok you sold me.Yep definitely going to pick up an imperial eagle but as for speed and handling the original eagle might be better..but looses some points on cool factor.

The original Eagle is more maneuverable but a lot slower. Am really looking forward to the F63 being released, so much fun in CQC, handles superbly with FA-OFF.

Ross 584 1A and 1B. Near LHS 20.

I go 2k up from the bottom and engage Frame Shift. But yur way looks fun too!

Awesome stuff,

Can't wait to get VR now. I love the ground/canyon flight too it's the best thing in Horizons for me, although i still have to learn FAOFF. I found a crater on a ringed 2.36G planet in the Taurus dark region. It must have been at least 1500 miles across, filled with a mountain range that dwarf's the Himalayas. A truly awe inspiring environment. I'll dig the coordinates out later if you like but such places aren't rare in this game.

Try Namarii 4c- crazy ice canyons

Thanks man, will take a look. Cmdr Sterlino found this on one of the moons in robigo, am enroute now.

When doing these flight, I for one would like to have a Turn and slip indicator! it's not necessary I know, however I some times miss it in the cockpit for some reason. Normally you can feel the slip, but here we can only see it visually.

For those who don't know what it is, the explanation is attached.

The turn and slip indicator (T/S, aka turn and bank indicator) and the turn coordinator (TC) variant are essentially two aircraft flight instruments in one device. One indicates the rate of turn, or the rate of change in the aircraft's heading, the other part indicates whether the aircraft is in coordinated flight, showing the slip or skid of the turn. The slip indicator is actually an inclinometer that at rest displays the angle of the aircraft's lateral axis with respect to horizontal, and in motion displays this angle as modified by the acceleration of the aircraft.

A properly implemented flight path vector would also be very nice. The dust streaks do an adequate job, a full blown FPV would give us much more precision.

The flight model is superb, I can understand that they don't want to scare off the average gamer and make the HUD too complex, still a digital vertical speed indicator and vector would be great.

Oh yeah so much this^ they don't need to scare players off, just make HUD variants, you can select in a lower lever menu system. It will not give you anything but those who understand it, can have some more information available. (easy to learn, hard to master)
