midnight paintjob too OP/hurting FD?

I like the Midnight paint job - right now it's the only way my Federal Assault Ship can be anything other than grey.

There are very few options for a FAS paintjob, and it just happens that the free black skin is a pleasant change to military grey.
Or is that battleship grey?

A Chameleon paint job would be rather handy - I'd pay for one of those.

Black is the new black, just like it was the old black and all the blacks between then and now, because black is cool. Like red things go faster, pink things are for girls and no one like green things unless it's British Racing Green or you're a Diamond Frog. So, given that style > everything else you can pry my black paintjob out of my cold, dead hands. You could try campaigning to change the colour of space instead, I'm open to persuasion on that one.

After viewing both these screenshots, can you really tell me that the midnight paintjob doesn't offer any advantages?

Can you please post the same screenshots with target reticules around the ships so we can compare visibility under combat conditions?

I bought that paint suite for my Clipper ... or rather I bought the paint when on offer before Christmas, then had to grind in Empire to justify the purchase

I don't know why they aren't available for the Courier - can't be difficult to implement.

But the Courier in the Black Friday looks really nice

Paint job is fine, but a mechanic that exposes white spots underneath when hit by weapons fire might help.

The advantage of black paint it kinda nullified when the ship has perminant lights illuminating it's spine and little blue and yellow flames sputtering from it's edges with every slight maneuver and course correction.

Well, if you fly with FAoff, you can reduce the thruster bursts and therefore exhaust trails to minimum. But yeah, proper stealthy approach definitely must account for the light source and brightness of the background.
