midnight paintjob too OP/hurting FD?

Am I the only one who thinks the midnight paintjobs are too OP? It's the only paintjob that offers an advantage in combat, and it's quite an advantage. Why would you ever want to use different paintjobs when the midnight paintjob is the most combat effective paintjob? I feel like the free midnight paintjobs (with horizons) are hurting skin sales because why would you want to buy different skins when you already have the best skin for free?

I think they should change the midnight paintjob to have a more noticable outline so it functions the same as the other skins. Paying money for a invisible paintjob is borderline pay to win.

edit: to be perfectly clear, I am talking about players using midnight paintjobs in addition to silent running AND flight assist off to become much more difficult to see. Normally you would be able to see light reflecting off their ship, but with the midnight paintjob, literally ALL you can see are the ship lights. (you can't see them on the radar, you can't see contrails, you can't see the ship hull).

I think the percentage of game population who min/max for PvP to the point of a specific paintjob is pretty small. That said, I'm sure a lot of people use it, but I doubt it's for the stated reasons or hurting sales much.

TLDR: Put it simply: No.

With a more detailed explanation:
Most players buy skins purely for the aesthetic they give their ship. Most usually they do not take into consideration the advantage it can give them (nor sometimes style, really; a salmon Imperial Clipper? Really?). Even then, taking into consideration the advantage - being camouflage against the darkness of space - it may give them, the only ones that will gain an advantage out of it are PvPers that use silent running. Those people represent a tiny percentage of the player population, so your odds of encountering such a subset are quite small.
This is even without mentioning how unfair it would be to represent the whole Elite population from some of the nicest paintjobs in the game for how it gives an advantage to a subset of players.

I got the pirate fraction skins because my rank is deadly, so be warned.
By the way that skin has 100% reflect damage if you shoot at me.

I agree completely with the OP, the black colour makes it completely impossible to see the engine flares, cockpit lights and gun fire of the ship painted with it. I also think that paintjob needs balancing because otherwise FD will lose loads of money, and would ask those criticizing such a baseless opinion as a thinly veiled attempt to lend credence to my argument to kindly buzz off!

And only to PVPers I suspect, since I very much doubt it impares NPCs with the current AI.

Not that most NPCs need much impairing, true.

Not to mention the onion head skin, makes the cobra look like a Conda or a wing of Cobras.
The only way to beat it, is to hit the smiley.

I'd noticed that! It also hides the target marker on the reticule...

Let's see, I have the midnight skin, I currently have it equipped on...uh...nothing. My Anaconda has the gold skin, which I think looks better than the midnight skin does. My Asp uses one of the other skins as well, looks better than the midnight skin.

As far as a tactical advantage, uhm, huh? Sensors tend to pick out my targets for me far better than my eyes can, especially at ranges over 2km, and even if they have the midnight skin, I usually notice ships at range by their vapor trails and thruster flares, so that skin doesn't do jack for a tactical advantage since it doesn't hide either of those.

Nice try, let me guess, you don't have access to them?

i dont play pvp anyway-never thought people could see me less because of this paint job
i just like black paint that is all-great paintjob for any ship

I like my black oxide patina.
I once applied for a jog at a stage lighting business once.
The last question on the application was "Does a fog machine make the music sound better?"
I answered "No".
I didn't get the job.

I mean, not really OP at all. Like said before only PvPers care and of those PvPers it's only really good for stealth which only counters scanners because you can sill see the ship from these huge jets of flames flying out at all angles. And even further, if they don't have thrusters on, are in silent running, and have managed to break line of sight for long enough, they are most likely "running" away and could use the extra help of a black skin for their ship.
That's pretty circumstantial
