Mighty Jingles: EDO is grindy, buggy and confusing

Grade 1 is not that bad, you can actually do a lot with those, so I guess this “review” is kind of biased. Regarding grind, materials used to upgrade is really not that grindy, you can filter in missions, trade at the bartender and if you loot bases and settlements when you do different missions you will have a lot of materials. So I guess he didn’t check out all the possibilities.

It's clear you didn't saw the video.

Sure, Jingles does not know all the options he has, which are known to frequent forum followers.
He's just one of those many players, i.e. the majority, that want to play the game without finding out first how to do things best.

And he's a strong influencer with more than 600k subscribers.

He's complaining that he has to play to game in order to play the game.

I'm torn about these vids.
Are they for real or are they just hopping on the outrage bandwagon for more views and subs?

With one mission a day, which should take you half an hour each, you're set to get yourself a Grade 2 suit upgrade in a week.
This is doing things the hard way, by the way. By taking risks, and being inquisitive and thorough, you'll find much faster ways of gearing up.

If you're calling just playing the game a grind, then noone can help you.

I watched the first ten(ish) minutes, and what I came away with was that he's a bit clueless - or pushing an agenda.

1. No, you don't have to be one of those super lucky Cmdrs who has found an extremely rare pre-graded suit/weapon. They are all over.

2. No, you don't need to make your suit/better in order to have the ability to make your suit/weapon better. When you upgrade your equipment (which doesn't require an engineer), it gets better - the clue is in the word... upgrade. So there is no catch 22 there, just a very simple to understand system.
  • upgrade suit at Pioneer (it makes suit better)
  • each upgrade level opens a modification slot
  • unlock engineers for access to modifications

So complicated, such a catch 22.

3. No, it will not take years to accumulate the materials. I'm close to having the materials for two of mods I'm interested in (for my super lucky extremely rare pre-graded Maverick suit). No grind, no specific material focus, just messing around with the new settlements, POIs, & occasional missions a few hours every couple of days.

If the only gameplay is the grind, how you name it? So far this is what Odyssey offer .... on-foot looting for on-foot gear upgrades.

The old man have a point. I am playing elite far more often than I would admit but I do see EDO as a grind (e.g. Good luck, if you plan to find 40 opinion polls with casual gameplay. It will take you a good year or two.)

Absolutely, if you dont mind dying once per mission grade 1 is fine.
Its 0 credits to die on foot in elite dangerous and why should i value my time more than Frontier does.

I did a lot of missions before I even ungraded anything and I didn’t die much, well I did a high combat zone (flight suit only) and that was a bit up hill, otherwise then that it was ok, of course it takes a bit of work but durable, so it’s all about play style as much as gear.
