Mighty Jingles: EDO is grindy, buggy and confusing

Do behave, no need to start throwing accusations that I'm always logged in. I'm really not.

Edit: Why are you taking shuttles? You "have 6 billion credits a fleet carrier every ship in the game, multiple corvettes and cutters stacked out.." Surely you can use one of those ships to make it a little quicker.
Cause I have real job, I book a shuttle, if i remember I get out of the shuttle check the station, book another shuttle..

"Best" quotes:
"Grade 1 suits & weapons are ....".
"EDO is 5 or 6 times more grindy than Horizons, which is well known as one of the grindiest games".

Still never grinded in Elite for 5 years and counting.
Grind is just wanting stuff fast that is supposed to take a while.

That said, I'm sure they'll reduce the stuff we need anyway. When I think about the first implementation of engineers in Horizons...

I'm a F'ing King and I still can't get someone to drive my Cutter for me. You just can't get the slaves these days! 😆
We are the owner/operators of the future. Looks glorious until you realise you have to drive yourself everywhere. I'm a scientist! I should have my eyes glued to the DSS and other analysers while my co-pilot earns their keep.

:D S

So you're playing while doing your real job - as opposed to your fake job? - while making baseless claims that I never log out of the game...

Got it...
Pretty sure this is not considered playing a game, its more like surfing the web in 3d with a terrible interface..the claim may be inaccurate to you, but there is plenty of base.

Ok, so today we add Mighty Jingles to the hate list because he released a video that we refuse to watch, but think we know all about why it's wrong all the same, and all because of a product that froze development on Horizons for 2+ years but NO ONE is allowed to say a negative word about the terrible condition it launched in?

This community gets more insular, ignorant and nasty with every day.

Sure, Jingles does not know all the options he has, which are known to frequent forum followers.
He's just one of those many players, i.e. the majority, that want to play the game without finding out first how to do things best.

And he's a strong influencer with more than 600k subscribers.
Yea, and a VERY big part of that is for other games than Elite Dangerous..... World of tanks among others....

Totally agree, it's not fun and way out of whack... the only people agreeing it's fine are people with an insane amount of hours already put into the game- there's no saying you play 2 hours a week, it's basic math.
You cant just claim everyone who did agrees with you are edge cases so their opinions or experience don't count

Seems like regardless of how little time someone has if they enjoy it you'd say they are putting in too much time for their experience to allow them an opinion

The playerbase needs to stand up, as one collective whole, and demand that FDev turn away from grind as a gameplay concept. Nobody likes the grind, nobody wants the grind, the grind does not serve any useful or fun purpose. Everyone agrees the grind must be removed, and so everyone must demand the grind be removed.

Should we define grind first? Or just grab the pitchforks go with whatever the crowd is angry about that moment?

Horizons engineering was already a grind, doubly so if you chose not to use Dav's Hope or Jameson type farming spots.

Odyssey engineering:
  • Has worse storage (shared 1k limit vs per-item limits)
  • Has worse trading (you can trade some items at bartenders, but not all of them)
  • Requires relatively more materials for equivalent grades
  • Has a far larger variety of required materials, mixed in with a whole bunch of materials that do literally nothing but take up inventory space and give you a pitiful amount of credits when sold
  • Has no equivalent to Dav's Hope or Jameson type farming spots, because trading is worse, item variety is inflated, and you can't relog in settlements, meaning the most "efficient" way to grind is to supercruise out and glide back into several different types of settlements while keeping a spreadsheet open so you can ignore all the pointless items

I'm not sure why anyone is okay with the system being so much worse in so many ways.

Nothing wrong with inventory items being worth little and still taking g space. That just defines the worthless item tier. Not EVERY item needs to be worthwhile. That way lies the modern design; "MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE EXCITEMENT PIXEL VOMIT" etc. There's a solid place for games with a different design.

It has crossed my mind that this is why they thought VR for Odyssey was a bad idea. They should probably have disabled support for single-monitor systems while they were at it! :)
