Newcomer / Intro Min. jump range to get to HIP 36601

Hi, I am out there circling around 500LY from it but I cant seem to get route plotter to work. Assuming its jump range related? Anyone know whats the min jump capability required to get to this place for the crystal mining?

I think it is now time to tell you about flowers and bees plotting single jumps that are longer than the route plotter* uses, also jumponium. :)

* The route plotter uses your full fuel tank range for max range of any jumps along the route, you can jump slightly further with less fuel (down to one jump max fuel usage level) in the tank. Jumponium aka FSD injection synthesis can double the one jump range (smaller doses also available).

Huh? I mean I can plot 1000+ LY routes no problem. Just not to HIP36601

This is one of the shard sites correct?

Go straight UP for 300-500 Ly first. Then plot again. There are locked sectors in the way.

Doing that now, HIP 36601 does look like its super 'high' up. Anyway, prepared to have to trek back. Part of the fun...

But even if I do trek back to base, what is the jump range I need to build? Over 40?

if you are this way inclined go to a mats trade broker 1st and set off from there
that way once you have harvested all the mats you need you can self destruct and instantly get to the trade broker, obviously will cost with rebuys

I am not sure if I can even make it there. I am just stumbling around and honking and sometimes playing with the FSS and surface scanner. I want to keep my exploration data for the explorer ranking though. If I cant make it there I'll just do the long trek to the nearest station to sell first.

You get exploration ranking by selling the data.
You should only keep it if you want to boost reputation with a minor faction somewhere.
If your ship gets destroyed you will lose any unsold exploration data.

I think the guy on reddit also lacks plotting skills. Hip 36601 might be hard to plot to but star density is not a problem if you avoid the permit locked areas. Just go up first.

It is not like travelling the edge of the galaxy. Here is another topic with the same question trying to get and exact answer. I can tell you. There are more way to get to Rome and 'someguy' will find a different route which requires less range.

Well, he is already inside the system so I interpreted his post as, none of the stars in his nav panel are jumpable out to.

I am saying it again. It is because of several permit locked regions that plotting appears not possible.

Good luck and enjoy the view!

We showed in the OP's plea for help in another thread that with a jump range of 38.49 ly you can plot a route from the bubble to HIP 36601:

They just obviously couldn't be bothered to read replies to their post.

So my original question still stands, what is the min range needed? 40+ as suggested by Dommarraa I guess.

We answered this for you in the other thread where you asked for help, two of us went to the bother of experimenting and establishing the jump capability needed to plot the route. So maybe you should have the courtesy to actually read replies to your posts.

I got it, thanks. it was just the other suggestion of 15-20 that got me confused (and hopeful of a shorter link from rimwards, since I was out of the bubble near within few hundred LY of target when I first posted) On my way back to build another ship now.

Hey, just my two cents here, failed once on reaching HIP 36601 yesterday, blew myself up, went back and refitted my AspX to 36LY (up from 32LY), approached from ~200LY above the target system and managed to plot a route to it when about 300LY out.
Haven't checked the links in this thread. Maybe this is helpful, maybe not.
