Miners, where exactly do you drop into the ring out of SC ?

Sorry for such a noobie question guys but am trying my hand at laser mining and getting mixed results.

When approaching a triple hotspot where exatly do you drop into the ring beyond where the circles conjoin? There are sometimes black 'lanes' between the rings. Some rings are brighter yellow than others, does this matter in terms of finding high percentage rocks ?

Today I tried dropping into the ring almost on top of the hotspot marker, there I ran into the lowest percentage rocks so far with 5% and 10% being the highest on that particular run.

Or maybe triple hotspots just get played out ?

if you aren’t into total max-rate mining most ships will allow 2 medium mining lasers and the abrasion blaster and charge launcher. Bring a PWA and crack any cores you run across for a change of pace.

Yeah, i think i'll be doing this, my python can do all types of mining. I usually do core mining to make money and laser mining for missions

I got mixed results. The other day I went for the center of one hot spot and got 4 back to back that were glowing after the pulp scan and got about 30 LTDs all together. Yesterday I did the same thing, none of them had any LTDs and only a few normal ones had such low percentages that they didnt even register how much they had.

Even when you drop at the right place it happens that you have to get out in SC and come back to change the instance.

In my case I'm laser mining + deep core. Way more fun and still pay way better than...everything else in the game ^^

Out of the 3 hotspots at Borann A2, I drop on the one in the middle. Seems to work pretty good most the time.

The only problem I have with LTD laser mining is it's very rare to find a rock with over 30% material content. Back when Painite mining was a thing, you could find rocks with 70% Painite. So.... I have to bring a s***load more limpets. I used to be able to get away with around a 50% cargo hold of limpets (if I had a 256 ton hold, I'd make 136 limpets). Now I'm bringing at least 176 limpets in a 256 ton cargo hold, and sometimes that still isn't enough, especially if my limpets are going suicidal.

I am filling up all cargo space now with limpets for laser mining, as just one badly placed fragment can often end up with all of them getting destroyed when you have loads collecting in parallel, their cheap as chips anyway compared to LTDs.

Did you knew Ackbar was a famous LTD miner before joining the Allliance?

Not to put too fine a point on it but as get closer you can plainly see shades of yellow- bright yellow, darker almost brown-ish yellow and black lines in between that are obviously outer space. Would you choose a bright yellow lane or one of thw darker yellow lanes ?
Yes, those bright yellow rings (or bright white if the hotspot heatmap thingy isn't showing) are denser rings. More rocks = more good rocks.

You ask or drop on the wake of another miner for a "Team work" session. You wait and "help" until they have enough to fill your hold and then you fire your hatch breakers. Usually only works once, but there are 1000s of CMDRs in Borann so it shouldn't be so hard to "help" somebody else.

It makes no difference.

Where did you get that from? I've spent enough time mining to mine 1/4 million tons, and I can't say that I've ever seen a difference.
