Minimum jump ?

I don't quite understand the meaning of the word minimum jump. Why is it bigger than the current one?

Yes that is your jump range when you have no cargo and about one third of a fuel tank. I'm not sure of the exact percentage, but as your fuel goes down you will see your jump range increase in the ship panel, until it drops too low and the range lowers.

That's max jump, isn't it?

Min jump is for fully loaded ship, fuel and cargo, I believe.
Yes.
Maximum jump range is for an empty ship with just enough fuel for that one jump.
Current jump range is for the ship as it stands at the moment you opened that screen.
Minimum jump range is for the ship with full cargo/passengers and full fuel tank(s).

So the ship is heavier in min jump than it is in current jump.

The OP here is questioning why their minimum jump stat is higher than the current jump stat in the middle, though. I think, at least.

(And I don't have a good answer to that.)

Yes. Any regular player, even a non-rookie like me, would wonder why those numbers are the way they are. I think it's some sort of error related to the FSD SCO.

Min: 22.84 > Current:22.80 < Max: 23.08

As the original image link is broken here I can only see the values you have posted I take it as a Min (jump range fully laden), current (what you can do now) and Max (Jump range when empty but has one max jump left in the tank)

I do honestly prefer the Elite 1-3 system of a twenty light year range always was twenty light years, the X ly range makes yet another thing you have to check when loading up your ship as cargo missions are stressful enough with pirates etc. adding in lower ranges and multiple jumps because you now have the cargo is just daft.

I'm wondering if someone has ever been denied a jump because they loaded up with fuel for that jump and it reduced their jump range just enough to make it impossible? 🤔

I know what you mean.
I don't have a cargo rack there, I'm only bombing Titan on this ship.
As the first two replies wrote, minimal is when the fuel is less than full, at the expense of that the jump gets farther. I understand that as well.
It's just that within the real world, I'm used to seeing the word minimal as the smallest word in that range.

I hope I've made myself clear.

I misunderstood your initial question, sorry.

I wonder if the "middle figure" difference of 0.04 from the "left figure" is a rounding error - maybe related to weapon load / engineering or similar.

Certainly looks unusual.

If you don't have enough fuel for a full jump then your current jump will be less than the min value as that one assumes full fuel load.

Based on your logic the corbel's lowest jump should be 0. All fuel is drained.
The minimum jump should be shown at full fuel load in the tank and under all conditions otherwise there is no sense in such a figure.

Minimum jump range is for the ship with full cargo/passengers and full fuel tank(s).

It used to be "just the weight of the passenger cabins is a range factor", fixed, regardless of them being full or empty.

Have they changed this in many years I've been away?

That's what it is though... Smallest jump at the ship's heaviest mass.

How much fuel did you have in the tank when you took the screen shot?

If you have no cargo racks with full fuel on the ship, I believe the "Jump Min" is always a tiny bit higher than the "Current". The reason is because the game has some confusing calculations in regards to the reserve tank. For those who may be unaware, the reserve tank is the very thin line just above the regular fuel tank bar. It drains at a set rate, depending on the modules on your ship. When it's empty, it siphons from your main tank to refill it.

The "Jump Min" number calculates your minimum jump range not taking the reserve tank into consideration. I believe the "Current" number calculates your current jump range, while taking the reserve tank into consideration. Depending on the ship, this makes you anywhere from 0.25T-1.16T heavier and drops your range by a tiny bit.

Now, what distance you can actually jump, could be up for debate, but I'd bet on the "Min Jump", not the "Current". In my Sol to Sag A* speedruns, I've found that I can almost always jump further than "Current" jump range (with specific exceptions). My spreadsheet calculations disregard the mass of the reserve tank fuel and all my jumps are possible every time. However, there have still been cases where waiting for the reserve tank to drain a bit more does allow for an even longer jump, so...like I said, it can be confusing.
