Mining and Sub Surface Disp Missiles and fissures question

Hello

I watch the official tutorial and I don't know how the Sub Surface Disp Missiles works? When I launch them, they bounce on the asteroid and explode away from it. and some time, they drill it like on the video. I did something wrong but what?

and last question, how can I get fissure on them ?

Thanks !

The Sub Surface Displacement Missiles need to be aimed very carefully at the Sub Surface Deposit - if they bounce off the asteroid, it means you missed! Adjust your aim and try again.

When they drill in, you just have to keep the trigger held down until the indicator in the bottom left of the screen shows a blue section - then, release the trigger on the blue section. If you get it right, there will be a small explosion and a large fragment will be ejected from the asteroid. You can do this more than once on each Sub Surface Deposit, to get multiple fragments! (Sometimes two, sometimes three, sometimes four - check your left-hand panel for the remaining percentage).

To find an asteroid with a fissure, you just need to keep looking until your Pulse Wave Scanner shows a bright yellow asteroid - sometimes they will have fissures, sometimes not. A lot of people are having trouble finding them in planetary rings - but I have discovered that you can also find them in Belt Clusters, so try looking there instead! Not all clusters have them, but some do... I visted five last night, and three of them had asteroids with fissures!

Thanks for your tips ! I'll try again then ! I love doing this but I can't ear lot of money with it. Best still combat and exploration for me (and commerce/missions).

You want to aim them carefully, but you need to be facing the deposit face on, or perpendicular. Also, fast spinning asteroids are hard to hit. The little interface screen is a little strange. The top section shows the density of the rock. The drill goes slower through more dense rock. All this means is that the display scrolls more slowly in higher density areas, so it's easier to trigger the explosion. In very low density rocks the display scrolls by very quickly. Then the blue section shows you where the drill is hitting the deposit, but it works kind of backwards. When there is a lot of blue, that is a weak deposit, but easier to trigger. When there is a thin blue section, it is much harder to trigger, but gives a higher yield. So it's best to wait for a 2-bar blue section, and check the density to see if it's going to scroll by fast or slow. But don't wait too long or you may not get another blue section, especially with later missiles in the same deposit.

Good luck.

And one more thing. The target reticle will change when you are aligned properly - adds brackets iirc.
