Mining - are pirates still showing up thousands of LY outside the bubble?

Yup...final nail in the coffin for the mining update for me too.

Yeah, one would imagine that mining outside the bubble would yield some benefits compared to the downsides (of being all the way out there). Kinda prevents anyone from doing any long-range mining expeditions without serious combat backup (which is silly IMHO).

Yeah, I can always deal with the first time they show up and I've got nothing in the hold yet. It's these server disconnects that really mess things up - you reconnect and the same three pirates re-spawn for that initial "whatchagot?" situation. I suppose I can always mine "normal" stuff and eject it but it IS a pain in the aft section.

Yeah I started a thread and participated in another thread on this very topic in the Beta feedback forums. No response as yet from Frontier. Hopefully they will take another look at this issue at some point because it really is poor design and it is marring the otherwise excellent work that has gone into mining.

Not sure if it makes a difference at all but I'm way out here in the Witch Head nebula. Logged out and back in, lost connection and got back in, no pirates. It MAY be that the Witch Head distance is about right OR maybe the DID fix it. Anyone else want to schlep all the way out here to test my theory is welcome.

BTW, for Old Duck, where can I get that fantastic paint job you're always advertising? I never see it listed in the store. :p

I've mining void opals using both a krait II and a type 10.
It used to be that pirates would show up as soon as I entered the mining area and scan .

Since the latest release, I've not seen a pirate - neither in the bubble nor out of it. Used to be that on restarting there would always be a pirate. Doesn't happen now, so I have a bored crew member. Still have the odd npc interception, but that's why I have a fighter bay!

Maybe they only pick on the weak. I'm in an exploration build of a Type-7, completely defenseless (I don't even have shields), and these fool pirates show up almost as bad as a HAZRES, and this is outside the Bubble in undiscovered systems! Stinking Paparazzi following me everywhere

I got a heavy armed Anaconda with a fighter equipped for mining. Still these pirates are everywhere.
even the limpets courier ships carry them to my location.
This feature really needs improvement.

Irony is, ALL THESE PIRATES ARE IDIOTS. Even in the Bubble, stopping my ship from mining is not how you get rich. You wait for me to finish mining, then follow me and my ship full of goodies into supercruise and try to interdict me.

These fool pirates pull over the bank truck before it's loaded with cash.

I've noticed the same in the bubble, but specifically that an NPC or two WILL always spawn when you drop into a ring but that they're not always pirates. More often it's just spawned a couple NPC miners that poke around for a bit.

When I go Mining in uninhabited Systems, I always get at least a Wing of Pirate NPCs spawn. Usually a Wing of 3 or 4.
On top of that - should I dare to switch Hotspots with Cargo onboard - an additional Pirate NPC (typically ELITE Anaconda or T10) will spawn in SuperCruise and it'll appear of course in the Asteroid Ring as well should I drop into it.

Even my Mining Cutter now carries a Class 6 Fighter Bay, since I'm down considerably on Weaponized Hardpoints. I need the additional guns.

On top, I've noted that these NPCs apparently all carry Grade 5 LongRange Range 8A Sensors. In the past breaking 8km used to make them give up pursuit. Doesn't work anymore now.
They had no issues following me even from nearly 14km Range.

IMHO : stupid spawn scripts are dumb scripts and need to go.
If there's no NPC Traffic in SuperCruise, there shall be no NPCs - ever - dropping or appearing out of nowhere with clock precision when the Player drops into a random ring, 1500km from a Hotspot center.
It's just nonsense and shows the fake, weak arcade spawn logic of the Game for all to see.

Well after several hours of on-again-off-again login/logout's I believe I can confirm that if you're mining in the Witch Head, you won't encounter pirates. I've been there for several hours, getting server disconnects, logged out to take much needed naps, logged out for dinner and logged back in, and no pirates spawned in my instance. They either fixed it or I'm finally far enough away where they simply don't spawn. I don't care which condition counts.

FYI, Void Opal hot spot has no void opals but has just about everything else. Even found low-temp diamonds in a rock I picked at random - it never lit up in the PWS.
