One does wonder whether core mining is worth the effort/time required.
I only core mine if I happen across one with a core worth mining.
Each to their own, I suppose.
Since the Nerf...I mean adjustment, it is almost not worth mining. You go out, search for (enter type) cores or asteroids, mine them, find a place that supposedly is selling for top price, travel there, fight off an interdiction attempt or two, get there, dock, and when you get to the commodities broker, you find that the price offered is 33% or more Less than what it showed on Miner's Tool.
The above mentioned Void Opals I mined...were listed at 614K at a station 135 lys away (5 jumps), but when I got there the price was now 450K. Miner's Tool said that the price listed was current as of 2 minutes previous - I refreshed the page just to make sure. Different station, same system...commodities broker (in game) said that this other station was buying at just over 700K. Got there and No...431K...Sorry Sad Panda. I understand that a 3rd party program (Miner's Tool for instance) is only as good as the information that is put in when a user visits the site, but in-game, if it says that Station A is buying Widget B for X amount of spacebux, it should be that price...or at least close.
Yes, mining shouldn't be the Uber-Fast Way to make bazillions of spacebux in 24 hours, but the prices should be a bit closer to what FDEV said the "new" prices max should be. Lately, it seems that prices are 50 to 65% lower than the max price they said they could be.
Sorry, just venting Commanders, I know it's preaching tot he choir, but sometimes you have to vent at more than the monitor I guess.
