Mining hotspots

Ive used 1000+ limpets at various hotspots and the Commodity im looking for isnt there at all. Is this a bug or a nerf to the new mining. (PS4)

Next to that: do you search at very popular systems? (Means, near Shinrartha Dezra, at or near the known stations which sell for very much, etc. )

I am not sure if my observation is right, but i get the impression that even if you go to hotspots there in a PG or even solo, the if other people in other modes cracked the rocks there already, they are not there any more for you. At least i had problems finding crackable rocks at those places, while instead finding the clouds which are left behind when a rock was cracked.

Once i moved a few systems away and found myself a hotspot there, things got better. Mind you, i still sometimes use like 25 limpets before i find what i want. But that's still better than using 96 and finding nothing, which i did when i was in solo at a massively populated place.

As said: i have no hard evidence to support this. It's just how things feel for me at the moment. Perhaps others can provide better data?

You probe the ring (oh errr) to discover the hotspots in super cruise, drop into the hotspot and use the pulse wave scanner to show the higher value roids and then use prospecter limits to narrow down the search for materials?

The pulse wave scanner is a funny beast, what you'll notice after a while is not all roids glow the same and that helps immensely with say deep core mining.

I am having issues finding the point of having anything brighten up at all lately. I see bright yellow, go up to it and it's some odd chemical that no one cares about. Not breakable either. Why did it brighten up at all? It had water and liquid oxygen, not breakable. Same as the rock next to it that DIDN'T brighten up. I've been looking around for void opals. Found ONE rock, get a few, zero for the rest of the time. Yes, I know there's videos showing what they look like (since there's only 4 or 5 variations) but the point was that the PWS was supposed to point out the good stuff.

Eventually I'll get the hang of it, I know (I didn't do the beta so I'm still hanging on tight to the learning curve as I speed around the corner).
