Engineers Mining Improved and Welcomed

Noticed the prices were much more varied. I saw painite selling for 70k at a station from the normal 40k. This makes it worth while to look around to actually sell somewhere else at higher prices.

Improvements:

1) Materials can be collected - I still wish we could sell them though because we acquire them pretty fast
2) Each asteroid takes less time to deplete meaning we can move on and keep flying and mining.
3) Prospectors give more information. But I was thinking they should launch at 2x their normal speed so they can penetrate the rock further and determine its makeup. It helps speed up prospecting
4) New ores to help increase the payout and variety.
5) Market can make prices increase even more
6) Shadows on the rocks improve the look for sure.

Wish List:

1)My main wish for mining is some sort of wave scanner overlay you can "tune" to the specific mineral/metal you want.
2)Drones need some speed increases they are slow as hell and still dumb as hell.

Wave Scanner Example:

Example I tune to Osmium because I have a mission to get 20. My wave scanner will help point me toward a rock with Osmium. It may only be 2% osmium and it could be 60% osmium. The scanner can't really tell until you get close enough. To be sure you will need to use a prospector. This makes hunting for the 3 P's much easier but also just as time consuming. Maybe a little less frustrating than just hitting random rocks.

Also I think there is a bug with the system. When you jump into an asteroid ring you'll only get Platinum/Palladium rocks with NO painite at ALL anywhere. If I log out nad log back in the instance changes and you'll get a few rocks with painite but a lot less Plat / Pall. Its a real pain. I wish there were some rhyme or reason to it.

Long term though Mining is enjoyable and this has taken it a step further. Especially if its profitable!

Also mining ice is cool (hahah get it) and all but there is zero profit in it. I mean I've not found a single diamond yet in an hour.

Remaining bugs:

1) Collectors will still retrieve jettisoned materials even if they are abandoned!
2) Collectors will even collect abandoned limpets!

I want the scanning probes like the Everspace has. That would be great. Although I am not sure whether it is not too close to the "space magic".

Another bug I've found is that its letting me supercruise out - but then it drops you right away saying you are too close.

Any video examples of this game and how it does it?

Also they DID nerf a bunch of modules. I was able to hold the trigger down and use 2 mining lasers as of yesterday all night long if I wanted and it would never drain the power. Now I have to keep it on 4 pips and it will drain down. So there was definitely a lot of nerfing..

I like the idea of tuning a scanner... It could be implemented rather like the SRV scanner. Tune for Osmium and it will generate a static pattern on the scanner you can fly toward.

They should just make it so when you mine, the material you have is given a "pure" rating giving it double the profit. While traders have to buy and sell already process material.

Your collectors will have no place to put the regular stuff. You can manually just collect what you want though the old fashioned way.

One other note - they did nerf Painite to death.

I found 2 rocks with Painite last night immediately... 4 hours of gameplay and mining later not one single (even small percentage) piece of painite since. I've tried near haz res etc. The numbers are definitely down.

I think its just bad random Kenney i was mining for 30 minutes today and over half of the roids i mined were painite I had a good chunk when i went back. It might be that the new resources have pushed painite down the table somewhat but seemed alright so far.

Another mining bug still

When you jettison cans (abandon) your collectors will still pick them up and bring them back... its soooo annoying.

Where you mining? I'm at GCRV1568

I was mining in Harma the Archon headquarters

It took 4 hours but I finally found painite and JUST like the night before it was 2 rocks in a row.

This is leading me to believe the actual rocks hold no information. Its generating or it has a "list" of the types of rocks you'll get in a particular order that rotates. You just gotta go through the list as fast as possible to get back to the top.

Where I am painite price has dropped to 20k per ton

The rocks do hold something. If you form a wing with a friend you can pass prospecting information to one another: If you find a good roid you can lead your wingmate to it and they can also mine it out, even if you've already depleted it. Sadly this broken and exploitative mechanic that allows a rock to be mined an infinite number of times is where cooperation stops when it comes to mining, and engineers has done nothing on this front.

Similarly, whilst I appreciate any changes to make the economy more dynamic, what fluctuating ore prices really mean is a nerf to the profitability of mining; at least without the ability to stockpile materials in stations.

By adding new mineable ores like samarium and others, other ores like platinum. osmium, painite became much more rare. I picked up some osmium mining missions in tolal I had to mine around 50t osmium and I couldnt do that because osmium is so rare now
Also I coudnt find mining mission for platinum and painite. Only mining missions I found so far were osmium, ...monohydrate..., samarium. Are there mining missions for other materials ?

1. It should be possible to set a filter for your collectors to bring in only selected minerals/metals
2. It should be possible to abandon your cargo in such way, that your collectors don't collect it again
3. I like the scanner idea very much
4. Prospectors should launch and fly faster (x2 faster would be enough)
5. I like the game mechanic that lets your wingman mine the same asteroid you did, because it encourages cooperative gameplay.
Take along your 3 friends in fast ships and bring a Conda or T9 to collect resources. Search for painite a then mine it together (x4 painite).
After T9's cargo bay is full, escort it back to starbase.

6. Create usefull mods for crafting (engineers).
- faster prospectors
- prospectors / lasers that can make asteroids drop more resource fragments
- more bins in rafineries
