Newcomer / Intro Mining in a wing?

My wingmate and I targeted the same rock. 31% ore.
I got about 8 ton of ore.
He got 1 ton of ore.
Both of us registered 31%
Is this a glitch?
Is it normal?
Have other players noticed this?
Or ...
Has wing mining been changed? Somewhat seruptitiously?

Limpets will harvest anything. Including mining chunks from your wingmate. Number of limpets and distance to the chunk group could cause a disparity.

You stole his fragments if your ship was closer to where his lasers hit the rocks or if you started mining the rock before him. Limpets have no sense of justice. They just grab what they can get before anyone else.

Also, another factors that can make a difference of a couple of tons is how full your refinery bin was before you started.

Same ships.
I mined the rock first, then backed away to watch.
Then he moved in to mine.
So, some of the above. Not all.
Oh. My limpets did not go near him.
