Mining - Low Temperature Diamonds

They are just incredibly rare. Honestly you would be better off chasing Painite. It's much easier to find and if you find the right spot (somewhere in boom I think) sells for about the same as LTD

Curious question...

Why do you bother mining them?

Painite is worth a lot more, and can be found, in comparsion, quite easily.

Ice rings are perdy and mining painite gets boring. That's the only reason I can think of to want to mine in them instead of metallic rings.

Im mining over in Colonia currently the sell price for Low Temperature Diamonds is 94,533cr and the Painite sell price is 33,475cr. As a person who doesnt normally mine i chose the diamonds because they sell higher.

Agreed - Ice rings are quite spectacular. And ice mining can actually be fairly profitable, if you know what to keep, and it doesn't often draw the attention of pirates.
LTD's are a nice bonus though, but far too uncommon to be a primary objective.

Yeah, the mining missions for metho whatchmacallit crystals can make mining decently profitable in ice rings, but they still just can't compete with 50k/t platinum markets and 100k/t osmium mining missions.

If you can map the asteroids with LTD. They are always the same. I think the reset is two hours.
