Yes it was. The patch notes made it pretty clear that the changes applied to LTDs only.It wasn’t a specific LTD mining change.
Can you subsurface mine other things? Cos the way I read it the subsurface mining changes were general!Yes it was. The patch notes made it pretty clear that the changes applied to LTDs only.
Yes. You can sub-surface mine many other things. In particular tritium comes to mind. Can you subsurface mine other things? Cos the way I read it the subsurface mining changes were general!
Well the Fleet Carrier patch included a significant buff to subsurface mining, namely a big increase in the number of fragments you can get from each deposit. With rocks having 4 or 5 subsurface deposits each yielding 25+ chunks, each of which is almost a full ton of LTD people were getting 400 tons of LTD an hour! Which was massively better than laser mining. The other advantage is you use the pulse wave analyser to chase down rocks with subsurface deposits. So you can speed through the field chasing down likely rocks and only prospecting those. You only need to find 4 good rocks in an hour to make a massive amount of cash. FDev decided this was too much of a good thing and yesterday’s bug fix reduced the fragment yield by 25%. Early indications seem to suggest it is now about the same as laser LTD mining in terms of Cr per hour.So just to check, in practical terms, how have things changed since the update for LTD laser miners? And what happened to subsurface LTD mining?
It is definitely worth it though. When you get a core asteroid to blow it is quite impressive. Find it a lot more fun than laser mining.Oof first session with a friend trying to find my way with the other types of mining ...
Surface deposits ... tricky but ok
Sub Surface and Core... boy I need more work and more tutorials!
It helps if you pick a rock that is as still as possible and that your mining tools are as close to the axis of your ship as possible that way it is easier to allow for the aim off required because the projectiles are slow.Oof first session with a friend trying to find my way with the other types of mining ...

I have the pulse wave scanner on my secondary trigger which I have bound to one of my rotary controls on the throttle that lets me go through the ring pinging away like an old TV submarine. For some reason I thought the pulse wave roids would stay lit up longer... it was quite the chase, hampered with my Python being magnetically attracted you asteroids and getting stuck!!!
