Mining Missions?

Greetings Commanders, well I have been looking everywhere for those mining missions, mining is something I really didn't put that much time into, before I remember I could find tons of mining missions, but now these days not so much. After doing a lot of board jumping, and after about 20 min, I got one mission, to mine 10 units of Methane Clathrate, but the reward was only 4 tons of platinum and some material, doesn't give much at all. I have checked other places, such as Reddit about mining missions, but couldn't find what I needed, mostly people bragging about their yield, but not really how to get those mining missions.

My question is... How can I find the mining missions and better ones?

I have a bunch of mining hubs bookmarked, unfortunately not home till Friday, can pm you the locations, offering around 2 mill per mission. I'd generally load up till I reach the mission limit, then head south of the bubble and mine\explore

You want extraction\refinery boom state. Strange thing I've found is the low population fringe systems offer better missions than high population systems.

I also use a maxed cargo Python as a feeder ship for my T9, it will collect and deliver any outpost missions, gives you more options. Once I return to the bubble and offload the large pad missions, I'll transfer the rest to the python and finish the deliveries .

Well, as a son of a... miner :D I find mining missions in their respective hubs totally crap. And that's saying politely.

I'm currently based in Orion Nebula, in a nice little asteroid base (PMD2009 48 - Orion Nebula Tourist Center).
It's a visually nice location - the base sits inside gas giant's A ring (metallic ring), and B ring is an icy one.
You can imagine the view is quite nice: Orion Nebula in front of Barnard's Loop, gas giant, icy ring...

Back to missions though - this fantastic location offers a lot of mining potential, there are 20+ materials that I saw myself that can spawn from asteroids, so there's no shortage of stuff to mine. Including some rares popping up occasionally here and there, like Cold Diamonds, Painite or Paladium.

But when it comes to missions, it seems that the Tourist Center's number one need is... Methanol Monohydrate Crystals.
I guess drinks are in heavy demand, while nobody cares about... gee, I don't know, oxygen or water for a station 1000Ly+ from bubble.

Those missions really need some love.
Anyway, feel invited to the Orion Nebula. We have nice views, and tourist girls are pretty, too.

It is a beautiful region to mine, have a mining fleet stationed there, rubbish for missions tho, economy is tourism, only one or two factions out there.

Precisely that.
In a post I intend to write about improving mining, that's one of the things I want to propose - for mining missions to make sense, in the meaning that some missions should look for resources that look like what stations need. We all know stations don't actually need anything, but since this entire game is one big masquerade, let's have some pretending that we're helping remote stations in their daily needs.
At least mining would then feel like somewhat useful occupation, rather than just being there so that mining is ticked off on the board of features this game should've had at launch.

Sorry for digressing, OP :)

As to how to find more mining missions: if you don't plan on accepting Orion invitation, I would filter Galaxy Map to show refinery economy systems only.
I haven't checked myself in long time, but I suspect that's where you have the best chance of getting more mining missions than anywhere else.

Then, as usual, you'll have to get more friendly with local parties so they unlock full mission potential for you.
