Mining - Please provide option to disable auto allocation to hoppers

Hello all.

I know there would be a lot of people who are happy that they don't need to allocate to hoppers now but I really miss it. When you're not being attacked I'm finding that mining has become boring. The allocation to the hoppers at least made things a little more interesting.

I don't want the auto allocation removed as people enjoy having it, but I'd love for there to be the option to disable it. That way everyone can get the most enjoyment out of mining.

Anyone agree, disagree?

I am perfectly fine with the way chunks are now auto allocated to hoppers, but I can also understand that there are people out there who miss it. I wouldn't object to having an option to disable or enable auto allocation. That way everyone is happy.

the game generally needs more functions, like autoassigning only secific metals and flush unwanted out automatically.

there should also be an option to flush cargo with a "unwanted" mark to make sure your own limpets don't recollect them again.

Oh, I HATE it when they pick up the trash you've just dumped!! If you just jettison something then the limpets should be able to target it but if you jettison (abandon) something then they should ignore it. That would be the most flexible mechanic.

Completely agree. I only have a 5 bay refinery and I keep the most expensive metal parts in their slot until I see that metal again. This leaves only one or two bays left open, normally I would just eject the unwanted ore but the auto allocate is forcing me to scroll down to eject, a few extra button clicks but still this adds up!

That said after coming back to E:D after several months the x2 or x3 amount of chunks per asteroid is fantastic! (Before a 2 limpet collector was fine, now i'm thinking of more!) As is the introduction/increase in the number of mining related missions. 3 Painite for 280k? Yes please! With the addition of limpets, mining I feel could be a viable alternative to combat and trading at least into the 10-20 million credit mark. (I make about 1-2million a run in a shielded type 6, in a type 7 with 3+ limpet collectors you could make alot more).

Cheers Frontier for the updates!

I haven't tried, but you could still babysit the refinery to flush any ores you don't want before they reach 100%.
.
One thing that does work though, is to keep your cargo bay full with limpets. With the cargo bay fill, the hopper won't auto allocate the second batch of an ore or metal. This will slow it down to achieve an experience similar to 1.3.

While we're at it can they please please make it so it's the oldest prospector limpet which is destroyed when a new one is launched not the newest/closest one! Currently having more than one is frustrating and useless!

I think that you should be able to click materials to "auto vent" in the refinery. Also, Jettison (Abandon) cargo should be ignored by collector limpets. Those two things plus fix the crashing while mining bug and we finally get mining in a good place.

I am a huge fan of the new refinery. I think a good option on this would have been for them to sell two different kinds of refineries, a manual one and an automatic one.

Then, smaller ships or people who like manual allocation can buy the manual one and save some credits.

And....I can fund some High Tech world's coffee budget by shaking out my wallet for an A4 automated refinery. :p

Hands up if you've wished you could shoot out those stupid limpets that are holding on to crap you've thrown out.

I scrape em off on a rock, then jettison my waste metals, boost away, then lauch more limpets. It makes me feel like im stamping on santas elvs every time though :(

I second the idea of having a third jettison method which collector limpets will ignore.
A destroy option would be best. No extra object clutter for game/instance, clean scanner. Limpet won't even know about it. You didn't want that canister anyway.

Do you literally scrape or do you just need to get close?

Just toggle the controller once to disable limpets.

If you got some good suggestions to easily improve mining (or want to know how I avoid all the current issues), drop them here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=188938

I doubt destroying canisters from within your ship will ever become a thing, it's too open to abuse. If you are sitting in a station and haven't managed to sell your slaves, you have a problem that an "incinerate" button shouldn't be able to solve.

and then how will my drones collect my stolen illegal cargo?
