I have been mining for a bit and one problem I have always had is trying to see what asteroids I have already mined. Because as im sure a lot of you know, space can get confusing. And another thing is no real thing to put in the ultility slot of ships. So I was thinking of possibly a tipe of inexpensive probe that you can shoot onto asteroids and it will scan what minerals are in the asteroids...also they will stay on the asteroid until you get too far from them. These will also appear on your contacts menu and have a marker like other ships or objects in the game. So you can see at a glance what asteroids nearby you have already mined
mining scannars.

I agree, an asteroid scanner working the same way current scanners do, is a must to make mining less of a pain.
This in addition of either a tractor beam or collector limpets to collect the fragments.
Please do not reply to this thread telling that it would make things too easy because it would also take slots, so there is a drawback.
And if some of you still think that all need to be done is "improve your skills", then i double dare you to show us a fun and productive one hour mining session on Youtube.
