So now that the dust has settled a bit I am wondering exactly what is the current state of mining in ED?
Is SSD dead now?
Is LTD mining dead now?
Is painite the future?
Do double and triple hotspots still work?
Are void opals the best bet now?
Is core mining better (faster and more frags) than laser?

2.Yes
3.IMO Yes (but better in metallic rings rather than metal rich rings)
4.Yes (with the exception of 2)
5.Depends on what you mean by 'Best Bet', quicker money with painite.
6.Yes but with the exception of 'Painite'

Other than that mining seems to me to be working as intended.

What I've noticed with painite in metallic rings (specially in painite hotspots) there is a lot more surface deposits to laser out than cores with yields ranging from 30% to 65% or there abouts. With a good set up for laser mining you could possibly get upwards of 200+ units per hour on a good run.

I wouldn’t call LTD mining dead. Maybe nerfed but still viable (at least for core mining). Void opals were paying more last time I was mining a couple of weeks ago IIRC.
