Mining/utility SLF

this might not be a new idea or even a realistic idea. SLF are cool but i wish there was more utility out of them other then just an extra gun.
adding new SLF or retrofitted current human SLF's with devices made for more then combat. current attachment ideas:
-mining laser, a single miniaturized mining laser capable of assisting with current mining efforts or for commanders who need a mining laser without sacrificing a hard point.
-abrasion blaster, a smaller shorter ranged version of the standard abrasion blaster allowing the SLF to get into just cracked open asteroids and cutting out those hard to reach nodes.
-subsurface displacement missile lower ammo counter then the full sized version will need to return to mother ship often.
-seismic charge launcher lower yield version of full sized version can only deploy medium charge size maximum.
-claw arm an SLF limpet helpful for getting cargo or resources to the mother ship can also be used to ram other ships.
-mini pulse wave analyzer, a shorter range analyzer good for rock scouting. or a pulse wave link allowing the SLF to see the pluses from the mother ship
-hatch breaking torpedo 2 smaller and slower torpedo's with a short range perfect for commanders looking to have more options in pirating

yes all of the things i have suggested can be preformed by the main ships or by limpets but its just an idea that i thought i would suggest. i also think it would add more value to multicrew mining and pirating. what do you think? what would you add or remove? and if it was a new SLF who would make it and what would it look like?

They are literally called Ship Launched Fighters, that's their only utility. You want a Ship Launched Mining Assistant then sure ask for that, it may mean you don't actually get to carry both but must make a choice, on the other hand that's what the game is about, making choices. You can have a SLF or you can have a SLMA, but let's not try and magically combine them all into one thing otherwise in the end we will have a SLF that can do 20 different things, hull repair? Sure. Fuel transfer? Sure, why not any and/or all of those things once you start combining stuff into one magical package!

There is an unreleased SLF called the Exopod that most believe is used for mining. Concept art for it was discovered over a year ago. It recently appeared in the artwork for a CG galnet article leading to speculation it may release with Odyssey. (I can't find the CG artwork atm but lots of shots of the Exopod exist if you do a Google search)

Okay, then rename the fighter hangar to "support craft bay". Simple and effective, adding further avenues of design and gameplay without having any actual impact on existing content.

Off topic to mining, but it would be cool to see NPC expods buzzing around installations and capital ship docks, as in that artwork, working away on external repairs, maintenance and construction. It would really add to the feel of those places as hives of activity.

Two variant Mining-focused fighters: each packs an Abrasion Blaster as the Primary weapon. For the utility slot, one carries a Sub-Surface Displacement Missile while the other carries a Seismic Charge Launcher. No special AI. Either you fly it yourself or you multi-crew.

Park your ship far enough from the 'roid to avoid collision and cut power to the thrusters if you're worried about drifting.
Launch Limpets and open the Cargo Hatch.
Launch the Fighter and get to work with SSDs and SCLs.
Once all the SCs are placed, revert back to the Carrier and recall the fighter.

Bonus points if the Autopilot could Mining Lance the asteroid while you're in the SLF[M]. The lower fragmentation rate on the Mining Lance wouldn't matter as much given the bottleneck will be the limpet gathering rate, and the extra range would be useful in staying far enough away from the core detonation.

Near as I can tell, this would require little or no additional special programming, just two new fighter models with some existing weapons.

I'd happily crowd fund this.

I can't confirm if it is a mining ship or not but that is the most theorized use for it. Even if it's not at the very least it shows that the OPs suggestion may at least have some merritt as fdev are apparently still actively developing SLFs behind the scenes.

I meant what what I was about to say was off-topic to mining, I didn't mean to suggest the idea of it being used for mining is wrong.

If anything, I would assume it's a multipurpose vehicle (mining being the presumed use based on visual design, with that being expanded to EVA maintenance and repair by being shown working at a capital ship dock).

Then it would have to be called a Limpet
