Oh, nice, I hadn't seen that. Apparently the art is fairly recent, or at least, was only made public recently. I really do hope we start to see some more specialized ships like this, and mining would be a great place to start.

It at least indicates that Frontier were possibly thinking about a mining-specific ship, depending on how specific the brief was.

I like the idea of drill based mining as an option in the miner's toolbox. Hopefully it would have gameplay that is far more than just attach, wait and pray to RNGesus..

Why it would be too late ?

We have fully specialized combat ship and they are adding more combat ship in Q2 (Krait & Challenger)...it's only speculation but Q4 update would be a good time to add some dedicated ships that fit with the new gameplay / mecanisms behind mining / exploration.

Wow 3 posts jumping on me? I m flattered. I have stated in other threads my opinion about dedicated role ships that we DONT have. If you want a good mining vessel then grab a corvette which can be fitted with mining gear just fine.
You guys can say about me whatever you want, but it doesnt change the fact that ALL ships should have dedicated slots like the placeholder VIP passenger slots that we dont use. Personnally i believe that ONLY passenger vessels should fit cabins and multiroles should be able to fit just a few. Same thing with mining gear. Same thing with weapons, cargo ships should have mainly defencive slots.
