Minor faction submission issues need a dev/support response please!

I'VE HAD ENOUGH! I have been trying to get this sorted for over a month and the minor faction website doesn't allow you to contact anyone or add notes or reply! If your minor factions rejected there's no way to speak to the team or person who rejected it. I've submitted a support ticket but that's 4 days old with no reply.

Essentially am trying to get a new minor faction added to the game which is being rejected as the name does not conform to lore. THIS MAKES NO SENSE AS I'M COMBINING TWO FACTION NAMES IN GAME WHICH I'VE ALREADY HAD ADDED ON DIFFERENT ELITE ACCOUNTS. I've already had to disband and add 20+ people to a new squadron as the squadron UI doesn't allow you to change power or faction support.

My player group and squadron are no longer affiliated with the Federation after going Independent and various players joining over squadrons and ours combining with another. We want a new faction added in a far away system combining the older faction names.

I think the lore reason is suitable
  • The ** alliance was created by want away Federation citizens and leaders of *** factions from *. This new Independent faction sought a new home to gain back political control and ownership from the Federation. Many citizens and hierarchy declined to join remaining loyal to their factions viewing the new alliance as misguided. The Federation and its members are still respected when possible not direct enemies but ** political agenda and citizens nearly always come first. Empire and Alliance superpowers are viewed with extreme caution and their politics highly debated.
The new minor faction name is a combination of two factions already present and approved in Elite Dangerous.

Somebody from Frontier please help!!!!!

You probably want to post this on the subforum specifically dedicated to Groups, Squadrons, and Factions. People who have successfully applied and gotten groups into the game can give specific advice. That's also where Will Flanagan has posted the rules and regulations for minor factions. In that post, Will explains:
If you want to follow up on any future player minor faction applications, please contact Customer Support here (please allow for 72 hours after submitting your faction application before contacting Customer Support.)

Please note that many player groups and squadrons have their applications rejected because they do not follow all the rules. For example, you cannot request a specific station or planetary base. You cannot request the creation of custom locations or assets for your faction. You cannot request a system that already has a PMF. Certain lore systems (like Sol or Lave) are off limits to player minor factions. You have to make sure the intended systems have NPC minor factions that directly match the kind of player minor faction that you want created - this includes government type and superpower allegiance.

As I read your post, you point out that your newly re-created squadron is independent but you have some alliance lore. I'd check for some mismatch there (For example, if you want an alliance democracy faction and have selected an available NPC alliance minor faction but your squadron is independent.) The lore-appropriateness of the name is only one of many requirements. There are a large number of rules and they are often hard to understand. Hence so many rejections. It is important to read and understand all the rules, and create a checklist before you apply. I've added the rules below in case anyone needs to reference them.

  • The system you choose for your minor faction must have a population of at least ONE.
  • Your minor faction’s name must be loosely related to Elite Dangerous, the lore of Elite or science-fiction.
  • Player groups can only have one associated minor faction.
  • No allegiance swapping. Your desired minor faction has to be pledged to the same Superpower as the system's Superpower.
  • Factions cannot be located in systems deemed to have significant lore importance.
  • A description of your minor faction is required.
  • Do not exceed 640 characters, this includes spaces and punctuation.
  • Do not use symbols. Only a-z and 0-9 text, and general punctuation.
  • The description must be in English.
  • No URLs / links.
  • The requested system must also contain a starport.
  • You must have completed the initial group registration process.
  • We will not accept any edit requests after your submission to the form below.
  • Absolutely no recruitment messages or website links.
  • All "addon" minor factions that have been confirmed as a squatting minor faction will be removed in addition to the main minor faction being removed.

The faction rules said:
Player groups can only have one associated minor faction.
I wonder if this might also be part of the problem - player group A had a minor faction, player group B had a minor faction, so when they combine into player group A+B they're not entitled to a third minor faction.

I've submitted a support ticket but that's 4 days old with no reply.
Two of those days have been the weekend and the two before that the first days back after the Christmas/New Year break when support will probably have quite a backlog of calls, so that's not all that surprising.

Clue on the support page.

Based on my experience with FD and "lore" issues, that sounds way too close to their lore to be acceptable. It'll mostly be the fact you're trying to associate or mention the superpowers at all, with statements like ". Their stance is particularly hardline. Some bigger things I've snagged on:
  • Trying to create any CG to collect Thargoid items
  • Trying to write a Galnet article claiming a researcher for Patreus discovered the UA morse when I, a pledge to Patreus, discovered the UA morse.
EDIT: Understand you might say "But X, Y and Z"... FD have occasionally been quite partisan with their decisions in the past, which is why they've cracked down (and stopped doing things like player-galnet articles)... they snagged many times on taking players words at face-value and causing a storm because it wasn't accurate.

Edit2: What's the faction name you're trying to get accepted? It could also be snagging on that.

I don't think the faction name is an issue... purely because Faction A and Faction B are already in the game and the new faction is basically Faction A and Faction B Affiliation.

We have Wireworld Crew and Lan Lounge Crew already in the game all I am doing from a lore point of viewing saying that the leading members of both factions left their home systems to shake off Federation control to claim back independence and moved to a new system creating the Wireworld Lan Lounge Affiliation)

It's the name that's being rejected but both factions are already in game and approved! Frontiers squadron and faction systems does not take into account player habits change and that groups of people disband and come and go. So I think it's fair to assume that when player groups and discord channels change, merge and move so will in game activity.

It could be that the name of the third faction you're adding sounds much too similar to the previous two, in addition to falling foul of "Your minor faction’s name must be loosely related to Elite Dangerous, the lore of Elite or science-fiction."

Many player factions were added by FD in the past with little to no regard for FD's own rules, particularly when they pushed through hundreds in one go, in order to clear the backlog prior to implementing the current application process. Now they have a proper process in place to deal with them quickly but the rules are generally enforced.

And incidentally, isn't there supposed to be a limit of one added faction per player or player-group? "Player groups can only have one associated minor faction." Obviously very difficult for FD to enforce and there are already plenty of player groups or just individuals who've sneaked through multiple factions.

Anyway, we're all guessing and really you need to see if Support are prepared to comment on the decision; bearing in mind that generally these things are final and not open to argument or discussion.

Technically I did not request the original factions and this is my point. We are a merger and combination of squadrons and groups..... so frustrating!

It seems to me you're in a lose-lose situation, here. Either you and your friends are attempting to create a new faction for yourselves when you already have a faction in the game (which FD has said they will not allow) or you are not, in which case your new faction's lore is interfering with the lore of already-established factions.

In short, you should not be publicly claiming that you are breakaways from Factions X, Y and Z - even if you actually are. You'll have to be more generic in your faction description. Something like "The {new faction name} are comprised of former Federation citizens from various Federal-controlled worlds, who have become dissatisfied with Federal rule and are now seeking a more Independent existence in a new home in a distant part of the galaxy.". Your faction name will also have to not mention the other factions. I'd also avoid using the word "Alliance" in your faction name, as it implies affiliation with the in-game Alliance superpower when it actually isn't. Yes, I know there are dozens of factions in-game that do that already, both NPC and PMF, but why give FD more reasons to reject your application? There are plenty of other words to use instead, that don't have any prior ED connotations: Union, Condominium, Concord, Consilium, Confederation, Assembly, Association... lots of options.
