Newcomer / Intro Missing cargo ..what do i do?

Have a mission to deliver 54 tons of Lipodolite but due to heat damage lost 3 tons ,so i went to and bought the missing tonnage but i still cant hand in the mission ,it says i have 51T haulage and the 3 T separate??

Sorry man. If the cargo was mission specific then you've botched it. I suppose it would make more sense if the game offered a partial success.

This is a missed opportunity. Rather than a mission fail that you can do nothing about, it would be better if the faction took the cargo at a reduced payment and a slight drop in rep, or even had a secondary mission spawn to make up for you losing the cargo. Maybe you have to track down a pirate who took it from you, or look for a USS where you dropped it, or even just fetch a new batch.

But there is a good reason why these missions work the way they do. As with many things in the game, you can blame players for abusing the system. It was possible to load up on delivery missions, especially high paying long distance ones. But instead of filling your hold stopping you from taking more missions you could sell the goods and keep taking missions with the same destination. Then you jump to the destination with an empty ship, making it quicker and no worries about pirates. When you get there, just find a nearby station that sells the same goods, load up and complete your stack of missions.

In case of failed mission - abandon it taking a hit on your rep. Shrug it off. Now you have hold full of stolen stuff. Yup, mission specific cargo now is marked as illegal. Watch out for scans. Smaller concern if the station you're in has black market so you can sell it right away. If not, find one and sell unwanted stuff to somewhat cover your losses.

Optional.
Taste the criminal life. Never turn back :p

Yes, go to a station with a black market before abandoning the mission, so that you don't have to carry illegal goods around with you. You'll then be able to sell it immediately.

,why didn't i think about that before canceling the mission !! that a damn good idea but too late.
