Mission: Theft (item doesn't exist)

Been doing missions for items to get mods on personal equipment. Some of those are thefts and heists because well that's just about all that there is to do. Today I was sent to get "the item from medical locker 1 in the research building".
Made my way there as normal. Got to a terminal and found a medical locker 1 but it isn't popping up as the mission target.
I went to it anyway and opened the box to find about 6 items. This is unusual for this kind of mission which usually contains just the 1 item. So I take them all and no trigger of the mission. So apparently this isn't the medical locker 1 I am looking for.

My question is, has this happened before or perhaps this is a result of today's update.
 
I had one earlier today that confused me because I opened the locker to find usual warehouse stuff instead of just the mission target. As I usually do, I grabbed the californium tetrahedron and the little blue fossil briefcase (usually worth more than the mission is paying) and ignored the white box (usually not worth the backpack space) without reading any of the item descriptions. Turned around to head back to ship, mission didn't complete.

"What was I here to steal again?"

Went back to the locker. Actually looked at the box. Nutritional concentrate. Swiped it. Mission updated. Huh.
 
I opened every locker I could, decided to try something before giving up. Exited to menu and came back and it gave me a different location to look (this time locker 8 in hab) and that one had the personal computer I needed.
So, I guess if you run into this situation and it isn't a case of not grabbing the low value thing, then try ye olde log out and back in.
 
I've just tried a couple of 'Retrieve item from crash site' and neither site had the item I was looking for. One site I left, looped round back and still not there.
Will try others and submit support tickets shortly.

I've found that the mission items no longer spawn on their own as a single item in the crate any more, so if you open a crate and find half a dozen things in it you actually have to check them all now instead of instantly going "nope, not the right crate".
 
Tried one last night and found plenty of random stuff in the locker but no mission item. I was short of time so just abandoned the mission. I'll try logging out and back in next time to see if that does the trick.
 
Just had a retrieval mission.

Single crate at the landing site.

I had to relog FOUR TIMES for this crate to spawn without all six slots filled with junk like compact libraries, allowing a slot for the game to actually put the mission item in the crate.
 
believe they messed up, again. seems like "containers", as described above, is filled up with other junks, so mission item don't have a slot to spawn.
I believe pre 11(.1) the mission item spawned on its own in the container/locker?

Most of the time though (1 out of 20+ missions done it was missing), it is there (talking about larceny missions atleast) but you just gotta collect and throw away until you get a missionupdate :D

Let me know if someone makes a report, Ill add my 2 accounts to it, and sound the jungledrums in my Discord for 3-4 more confirmations

It's just bizzare how bugs like this creep in, because like you said, prior to update 11 mission objective lockers didn't spawn anything other than the mission objective. Which makes me wonder if this was a bug that existed pre-release and they fixed by doing that and it's now somehow made its way back into the live release.

Well, soon it's going to be a year since Odyssey flopped and FDEv is just going in circles...

The delay in picking up items is still there too, and now in some of the smaller lockers I have some serious trouble getting the prompt for the top-right item.

Noticed that too... Some items require sniping skills to make the prompt to appear so i can pick them up

I didn't actually check the tracker :D

its not only bugs sneaking in or "features" being "polished", old bugs reappear so often, I'm curious to if FD sets a loop timer in the code:unsure:
