Missions for All (or most) Mining materials

Where I hang out at, most of the "good" mining missions are given on the planet surface. You will find them, sparsely, throughout different star ports, but nothing like it used to be.

My thought on this to pick a certain type of economy / and outpost OR star port type and have a ton of them available. Make them for everything, not just osmium and the ice ring types. This would allow commanders to better manage their mining runs and make it more dynamic. Also, make the ability to filter them out so non-mining commanders wouldn't have to look at them.

There's a niche for miners in this game, and they desperately need some love FDEV. :)

A resounding yes.

The community has been asking for this forever. Give us a reason to mine everything, FD.

Mining updates are coming later this year, OP. Maybe they'll come up with something good.

The issue with adding in missions for mining everything is that most minerals and metals are available to buy from stations, so rather than actually mining them everyone would simply head off to their nearest extraction and refinery bases to complete a whole set of missions in 15 minutes. We used to have the particularly bad issue of stations offering missions to mine things that were already on the commodity market, allowing players to rack up millions of credits in profits without even leaving the station in some cases. This was made more of an problem with the massively inflated rewards for mining missions.

To be honest, mining needs far more of an overhaul than simply making missions pay large amounts for basic metals and minerals. If anything I'd rather see asteroids containing less valuable resources to contain more fragments, so that asteroids usually contain roughly the same amount of actual value inside them even if it's spread out over vast amounts more fragments and tonnes of commodity.

True - but at least Samarium, Praseodymium, Platinum and Painite could be added to the list.

On the other side, missions offering Osmium as a cargo reward are not that hard to find, which can be handed in to the nearest mining mission for a bonus payout. ... I think I'm okay with that, since you do have to pay attention a bit.

Good point, but don't you think FDEV could flag the mined pieces as something you mined to combat this problem? I bet they could. What I'm envisioning is a refinery type base giving out those types of missions, possibly unilaterally to enhance the overall mining experience.
