Missions for ships in the stations concourse

AFAIK in the station concourse you only find fps missions. Did FDEV ever discussed the possibility to merge the mission boards and enable ships missions in the concourse too?
I'm asking because this is the typical details that draws a physical line between EDO and EDH and breaks the game continuity

I'd rather they move foot missions to the 'main' board, but if they figure it out one way they could put it in both.

Like it!

I'd also like to see mission offers for ground missions occur while in space. E.g. whilst twiddling your thumbs get a message asking for something to be done i.e. a planetary rescue mission or something of the sort, indeed any surface mission at all!

Good idea. I actually accept some of those when they hit my inbox while I'm flying a round.

Right now, it's purely practical: keeping EDH and EDO content separate.
Once the two systems will be merged, I guess there might be a chance of having unified mission boards, at some point.
However, I am well aware that if something is feasible, it doesn't mean that it would necessarily be implemented...

They mentioned more (some) crossover between on foot and ship missions in the recent dev update.

I have been suggesting having passengers accosting players in the station concourses since the Alpha launched - and they need to sit in the cockpit. I want to hear 'psst - think you can outrun a federal corvette?' from beside me when I'm exchanging goods with the barkeeper.

I prefer they didn't as it removes the use of us having to get out and walk around the station.

I do agree that none foot missions could be in the stations as the original poster suggested.

I agreed. But I don't want unified ones in the ships. All that does is remove the need to go into the station, which I don't want.

  • merge the board to one, display it in ships and in concourses ( and make it so that the damn buttons are always at the same place :D )
  • disembark to hangar/concours/(interieur) - your choice
  • option to complete mission "on the fly"
  • ...

blaze your f4cking own trail.

you want immersion? run 7 decks down your Cutter and take a rest (sit down!) after half the hangar ;)
you want it quick ? disembark into bar or dont disembark at all

I dont understand all this "I dont like it this way, so I dont want it!"-mood from many ppl here (not just you of course, @Max Factor)

Just ask the developer to give us OPTIONS, or even better, demand them!

I actually want to go to the station to take missions for the ship. I would completely ignore the mission board in the ships but I understand that people don't care about the concourse, especially when they're all so similar.

I won't disembark if I'm flying a Corvette or a Cutter. The walk to the lifts is insane and a complete waste of time. The blue circle can go anywhere - at least put it under the part of the ship near to the lifts (front, rear, either side.)

More than happy to disembark from a smaller ship and go to the concourse for missions of both kinds.

I think in an ideal world you'd be able to get both kinds of missions at both boards, but the distribution would be different. The concourse would quite reasonably favor foot missions, and the available ship missions might skew towards sketchy transport jobs and such (yes emphatically including mysterious gentlemen looking to book passage and avoid imperial entanglements). Whereas the station board would be mostly ship missions with a selection of foot missions skewing towards those that require you to have a ship.

It doesn't. You have the mission givers, the store, the bio genetic thing, the bartender, etc.

If they do the one, they should do the other. I fly back and hand off an on foot mission. This is a convenience. The next logical step is for them to allow me to take on foot missions from my ship. I get two options when I hit the mission board. Ship Missions and Passenger. Just add the third box there for on foot.

Ahhh, are your feelings hurt. I gave my opinion, your perfectly allowed to disagree, but there is no need to be rude or unpleasant.

As I said, I don't like it, so I don't want it in the game. Simple. You wouldn't want stuff that you don't like in the game either.

And it's blaze your own trail within the confines of the game lore. Personally I would prefer if there were many more missions which were only available when on foot.

Add legs materials to ship mission rewards and visa versa. Replace the horizons mixed missions (surface hunt) with edo content.

There is so much low hanging fruit it's insane, EDO is still in alpha at best. They rushed the are basics in a near broken format out, let's see where it goes

The store and bio genetics are very occasional things. In fact what I would like to see is the stations being expanded and adding stellar cartographics, a trade counter and all the other things you can do in your ship done in the station.

What will happen is that you will be able to do everything from your ship without having to disembark. It's a slippery slope of convenience which doesn't make a game better.

shakes head I am not at all for mixing mission rewards for ship and on foot. That would just make it impossible to get what you are looking for, for either. It's all ready problematic for some of the on foot stuff. It took me 3 'days' before i was finally able to get the last 4 data objects I needed for a suit module. The same thing can happen when looking for G5 engineering materials for ship board engineering.

I'll agree that the EDH SRV stuff is more than a little nonsensical and limited now though.

EDO isn't in alpha any longer. Late Beta is arguable though.

Quality of life or convenience does make the game better. If the only thing I want to do is grab on foot missions, why do i need to take the time to get out of my ship, run back and forth and then get back on? I don't see how that makes EDO better. Mind explaining that a bit better?

From my perspective, if i don't find a mission of one type, but something looks good from the other, it's a win win.
