So...let me get this straight. You want...ten units of water, which would cost AT MOST 370 credits sourced from a regular trader. And you'll give me three units of plantinum, worth AT LEAST 55,209 credits?

Seems fishy...wait! Don't tell me...you need to deposit the platinum in a luggage locker in the passenger lounge, and the key will be sent to a separate drop, and I'm supposed to give back one of the units of platinum and can keep the rest? [where is it]

(So help me, if Frontier does that as a chain-mission hook... [woah] )

What strange missions have YOU seen (not necessarily accepted)?

These types of missions are probably part of a sting operation, just like the assassination of Braben. Don't fall for it!

Heh, and they specified which ice field the water should come from and then shortly after completing the mission the system state changed to outbreak... ;)

You don't undestand water.
Consider this, there's a big group of people only drinking water that pure enough. And you have no idea how much they pay for that.
Now, fast forward this in time and space...

There. The Holy Church of Space Scienlotogy is going to make Space Holy Water out of that specifically mined ice>Water. And they not just break even, the PROFIT from that...
Go figure humans...

I did have a mission for shipping 2 tons of biowaste and received 4 tons of platinum as a reward. Plus they paid me over 300K. Must have been unicorn crap.

Do you REALLY want the mission to ask you to mine (gets out his calculator) 1492 units of water?
(platinum worth 55209 credits / 37 credits per unit of water = 1492 units of water)

In this case I vote for fun rather than realism...

maybe they thought you were a space hobo and need something to do or money, so they took pity on you and gave you something to do?

i've had missions ask for something that's sold in their commodities market, it's a bit like the kids at me local off-license asking if i'd buy 'em some beer or cigs!!
