Missions to Remove Notoriety

All the more reason to not distinguish criminal and non-criminal activities for the purposes of reward, in the game design sense :)

Here's a thought; how about we reflect the negative impact "Lawful" actions have on other factions (through lost influence) on a commander's reputation with that faction.

Yeah, I ran dozens of massacre pirate missions and trading for a single faction and they're now in Expansion and in control of everything, but every other faction losing out hates my guts for it.
Yeah, the notion of being allied with literally everyone in a system, even the mortal enemies, seems a bit daft to me.

Oddly enough the FE2 military ranks worked like this. Doing work for one lowered your score with the other.

That's my normal situation. It takes some effort to achieve particularly during & immediately after a contested war. For most factions it's easy enough to use a KWS and selling the bounties for factions you don't want to help at an IF (Interstellar Factor). I can hand in bounties at an IF in a station controlled by a faction as long as I'm not locked out by having to dock anonymously so avoiding notoriety & paying off fines & bounties (in my case commonly generated by base scans & occasionally by accidental friendly fire) limits my choices. If I have any notoriety it's usually because I made a mistake.

One of my systems is currently being attacked (in Legacy in this case). Lots of contested wars really tank local faction rep with the one I'm opposing but I'm still cordial or friendly with the faction I am opposing because I'm not /just/ fighting the war(s), I'm also doing other activities including bounty hunting with a RES & selling any bounties for the enemy faction at an IF where they won't help them but do still improve my rep.

Being hostile & therefore unable to dock at that factions stations is inconvenient. Having notoriety is also (for what I want to be able to do) inconvenient. I'm a baddie in that faction's eyes, and it makes sense that I am inconvenienced by having my choices restricted.

But in the case of low rep (being hostile) I don't have to wait for the rep to naturally decay back up to disliked, I can fix that restriction by grabbing some bounties & selling them at an IF. If I am notorious I can only wait out the timer. Having some (convoluted) way to get around that timer like the OP's proposal would be handy.

"You're notorious, so we cannot give you missions from the launch pad where you cannot actually be seen. Get out and walk through the station and we can give you missions, that way everyone can see you and you'll be anonymous".

It's actually immersive because by buying Odyssey you are bribing Frontier to let you bypass some parts of the legal system.
