Moderators? More like onesiderators...

Seriously. They'll let anything stay on the forums as long as it's in defense of fdev, and will delete out even constructive negative. It's sad really. Still have high hopes for the game, but I'm done with this silly rose tinted forum. It's a joke.

Seriously!

All forums are like this, don't be offended by retaliation when you offend someone, it's common sense.

Just be happy this isn't an Imperial forum. Just proves that even partial freedom never equals happiness! More supervision sets your soul free, it is only the body that gets beaten up and dragged to the dungeons! :D

Guys and girls working for nothing to keep this board informative need a little more respect then this. You don't like it here? Don't let the door hit you on your way out...

typical...

The forum is here to be an advertising platform for an upcoming game with little or no cost to the advertisers, what do you expect?

In the not so distant future, I predict a PM from a moderator stating how you can't discuss moderator actions on the forum.

Moderators are unpaid 'fans' who try to keep the forum civil while still allowing opinions to be expressed. Unpaid, civil, opinions...

Im wondering what the OP said outside those boundaries, seeing how Ive seen a lot of barely-civil 'constructive negative' opinions here...

Besides, who's definition of a "constructive negative" are we going by? The moderators have rules they're required to follow for doing their jobs, they don't do things arbitrarily.

In the not so distant future, I predict a PM from a moderator stating how you can't discuss moderator actions on the forum.

Indeed - it's in the Forum Rules:

FORUM RULES AND GUIDELINES

The following are rules of conduct apply to you, the user, when using the forum and apply to each part of the forum including sub-forums on the Frontier Discussion Boards.

13. Insubordination
If you disagree with a moderator's course of action over an incident, whether that be the closing of a thread or the issuing of an infraction, you must contact a member of the moderation team privately (through private message) to voice your grievance(s), complaint(s), and/or concern(s). It is not permitted to do this in a public discussion medium. Any attempt to do so will be seen as an attempt to undermine the moderation team and will result in an infraction and removal of the content posted. If you disagree with a moderator's decision it is also not acceptable to verbally abuse or harass them, either through the forum or any other form of communication. Any attempt to do so may result in a complete termination of your account from the forums.

You could always start your own forum up and post by your rules.

This is Frontier's forum and they have set the rules. I have never personally got on the wrong side of it, so not sure how strict the moderators actually are.

They seem fair to me.

This post was deleted - too close to the truth.

Apparently I was guilty of "image spamming", whatever that is, so my post got deleted.

I suppose a text response is required:

What is the criticism here, exactly? That constructive criticism is not allowed?

Show me some criticism that doesn't amount to "this game sucks because I don't know what I'm doing", or "incomplete game feels incomplete.", or "OtherGame has a feature that this doesn't - make this game a clone of OtherGame ASAP". None of which could be thought of as constructive.

I see quite a few shrill rants get dressed up as "constructive criticism". Most of the responses are negative, because the criticisms made are generally ridiculous. The (generic) thread poster usually reacts badly, and the threads then proceed to devolve into insult tennis. Finally comes the mod lockdown. You can't blame the mods for that.

I understand your point of view and some of the moderators do like to close threads a little early and defend FD to the hilt while some of the moderators since joining the group have done sod all.
I wont name the moderators who are just along for the ride as its pretty obvious that some of the new recruits have done sweet sod all since joining the moderator ranks.
im sure some of the old school moderators understand what im saying, but because crap flows down hill you wont see them agreeing with the statement.

what you need to understand is that the moderators represent free of charge Frontier developments and as such need to ensure that the forums remain a positive environment.

I dissagre i have found the mods to be both fair and polite.

they work hard to keep it a good community (I have been a mod myself so i know exactly how hard it can be)

I have seen many threads stay up, sometimes to my surprise (I would have closed some of them), so to say they are unfair or biased is simply not true.

Try posting a complaint or concern in a constructive (if pationate) way and your posts will stay.

come in all frontin and abusive and you will soon be leaving.

this seems fair to me who want's to engage an angry or insulting poster and if you do it often devolves into a flame session and that helps no one.

my advise post as if your actually sitting in a room with the people you want to address and would actually be responsible for their reaction and if you offend unintentionally say it was not your intention so the dialogue can progress.

it's a little trick i have been using since about the age of 5 or 6 and we call it respect for others as well as ourselves.
