Engineers Modified Consumer Firmware

Before I spend an entire weekend hunting these [blah] can anyone point me to a good source of Modified Consumer Firmware?
Base to scan, mission board at a station, anything?
I need 23 of these damn things to complete my engineering list.

I need 4 Atypical Encryption Archives too but at the moment my biggest need to fill is the Modified Consumer Firmware.

Take the MEF missions and trade down one 5 MEF will get you what you need I think.

Yea I suppose that's a route to go. I hate the trade rates but I admit I've done a lot of trading mats the past few weeks.
I had 16 Imperial Shielding for which I had no future use for I was happy I had scooped up for trade.

Planetary scan missions have been a reasonable source for a few MCF as I went along. You need some luck to get all 20+ you want without it feeling like hard work though. I really think grabbing some MEF and trading down is the best way for the amount you need.

The Imperial shielding mats are a bit underwhelming, top grade Resistance augmented shield boosters are nice to have though.

I see lots of them in wing cargo missions but haven't got around wanting to deliver 4000 units of biowaste somewhere.

The Dav's Hope still drops MCFs (at the moment) so that's an option too as long as you don't mind the logging in and out a bunch of times. Because of a couple Dav's Hope trips I have 128 MCFs at this moment.

As others have said though if you want to take the high level missions for MEFs and trade down that's the better game friendly option.

While I personally hate giving up 500k per L5 mat, this is going to be your most time-efficient way.

If you don't want to trade down MEF, do surface scan missions and you'll pick up a fair number of MCF.

You will also pick up a few Security Firmware Patch, which can be traded for 9 MCF each. As Security Firmware Patch are only used by the Double Shot Fragment Cannon Grade 4 ... trading them is the main use unless you really like frags.

For 1 MeF you can get/trade 27 MCF!

Thanks for the replies. I ended up trading for them all. My engineering is complete on my whole fleet! [yesnod]
I still may tinker with some variants on Boosters for specific purposes (like a PvP build specific shield plan) but I am generally DONE and so happy to be done collecting all these mats.
What a huge difference G5 dirty drag drives made on my corvette. It almost can move out of its own way now
