Module and weapon degrades

i know the integrity of module does happen very slowly.
how about introducing module usage degradation the more a module is used it burns out a little. e.g mining lasers burn out after so many hours of working without a service.

if you manage a fleet of plant equipment in many cases these have hour clocks of usage, these are a little like the mileage on a car but it counts the hours used. at a certain number of hours a service needs to happen on certain parts of the plant machine.

in the real world if we had lasers and weapons these would need maintenance to keep them operational, can we have a counter till next service or something to degrade performance once a certain number of hours have been surpassed.

service on a carrier or station would obviously service the modules and return the counter to a good state,
elite needs to be dangerous we need so sort of module failure to happen, space travel should be a risk.

I doubt that long range explorers (unsupported by Carriers) would appreciate a change that borked their ship after a period of time in a "new and interesting" way - some of them don't dock for years at a time.

I like the idea of slow degradation based on use and/or damage. And repairing should only fix 90% 98% of whatever got fixed, the remainder being unfixable. So ultimately modules and maybe even the hull would require replacement. Nothing lasts forever. This would add lots of interesting gameplay decisions.

I know 99% of the cmdrs would hate this idea, and too late to implement this anyway. No need to bash.
