I think monkeys are the biggest missing group in the game for habitat animals. In my opinion, their absence is worse than the birds because there aren't too many that would go into a habitat. They have so much variety, and when they are active, they bring a lot of life to zoos.
I'm going to list what I think these are to avoid confusion.
Essential or my favorite: (I will be sad if they aren't included or don't have a good substitute)
- Golden Lion Tamarin: Really beautiful, I took a trip to the Smithsonian when their breeding program was in full swing. They had a bunch of them, and they were chasing each other around. That is my favorite zoo memory, and they are my most requested animal. They have a good conservation story. I really hope they get added.
- Red Shanked Douc: Uncommon in zoos, but they are so colorful and pretty. I really want them anyways.
- Black and Gold Howler Monkey: popular SA monkey with sound effects. SA needs monkeys.
- Geoffrey's Spider Monkey: popular SA monkey with prehensile tail. SA needs monkeys.
- Lion Tailed Macaque: popular Indian monkey. India needs a monkey. I could accept others from India instead
- Hamadryas Baboon: most popular baboon. The game needs a baboon. Good for the Middle East
- Golden Snub Nosed Monkey: rare monkey of significance to China. One of fewer cold weather upland monkeys and visually distinct.
- Mantled Guereza Colobus Monkey: most popular African monkey that is not a baboon. Africa needs at least one. I love their capes.
Yes, please!: (Good for the game, and I like them)
- De Brazza's Guenon: Another good African monkey. I like them almost as much as the Colobus
- Cotton Top Tamarin: Common in zoos and another cute tamarin
- Emperor Tamarin: A tamarin with a mustache!
- Squirrel Monkey: popular SA monkey. cute and colorful
- Northern Plains Grey Langur: another great choice for an Indian monkey
- Yellow Bellied Mangabey: a good choice for Africa. I don't quite like it as much as the first two, but it's still good.
- Golden Langur: A pretty choice for India
- Bald Uakari: Variety for SA monkeys (I would like a bunch of them)
Good Choice: (Good for the game, and I would approve of their choice though I might not be as excited about it.)
- Gelada: Another good African monkey. They live on mountains.
- Barbary macaque: Occurs in Africa and Europe
- Celebes Crested macaque: An Asian monkey with a big, goofy smile
- Common Marmoset: Common SA monkey in zoos
- White Faced Saki: Good variety for SA
- Red Howler Monkey: I definitely like the color variation in the black and gold, but it's still a good choice
- Dusky Leaf Monkey: Good choice for SE Asia
- Vervet Monkey: Good choice for Africa
- Patas monkey: African monkey with a white mustache
- Olive baboon: I think this one's the Olive, which would be another good choice for an African Baboon
- Rhesus Macaque: Solid choice for India
Not my favorite:
I don't know what a lot of these are. I see a couple of tamarins, a red faced spider monkey, a tufted capuchin, another odd nosed monkey, a green monkey (my favorite from this bunch), another grey langur, a drill, and several other species of baboon. I don't know what the rest are. Clarification would be awesome.
