Moral and ethical advice please

I say: do it!
My wife says: if you've already spent meaningful time with them, go for it!

So that's 2 votes in the "just do it" camp.

Yes, it is wrong. Your family should come first, your wife especially. Ignoring them for selfish reasons will likely score you negative rep with the wife. And she likely holds the monopoly over your sex life. Just don't do it, man, not cool! Christmas is family time. You'll get around to playing eventually.

His wife's not on the forum so her rep doesn't count. :D

It's immoral if you are eating another person, you have a slave, your house is being robbed and rather than help you decide one more trade route run..... what your doing is only considered rude.... and really that depends on how long they stayed.... after 4 to 6 hours... the rudeness is the guest by not taking the hint.

Put in your family time, then walk away... you've done your duty.

Wife got me an X52 pro for my pressie. Have her family and mine round. They won't leave. Is it wrong to set up put the headphones on and crack on with setup of the x52?

If you don't want your wife to have another reason to leave you, then don't I guess.

Win new converts and invite them to see what all the fuss is about. That way you seem like you care about them and want to share your life. When they don't bother then YOU can be the one who acts affronted that your interests are unimportant.

I am in the same boat sir! New X55 and family round... I may lace the Christmas pud with sleeping pills for a sneaky couple of hours later :D

You could always buy the family, wife, kids tickets to that new musical/movie that is releasing today. When the wife asks why you're not going, tell her that you want to clean up the house so she won't have to when they come back.

You now have 2.5 hours or so to spend setting up your HOTAS and playing Elite. Just make sure you actually throw away all the xmas garbage. Everyone wins!

Sit stroking the packaging of your new toy whilst exhibiting a dreamy faraway look on your face, occasionally turning to your family and saying things like, "Sorry, I missed that ..." or "Sorry, did you say something ..." - they'll get the message soon enough

I managed a 30 spin on my bike before lunch and a 6 jump whizz over to aegaeon to pick up my rares before it got too frosty this afternoon. Its a bit like fuel scooping really, know when to pull away and you are ok, get to close and you get fried! Merry christmas x
