I was playing Odyssey and was running some package delivery missions and wondered why we don't use our backpack menu to fulfill the delivery of items and packages. To tell the truth it's kind of used so little that I almost forgot it was there.
Wouldn't it be nice to bring up the backpack menu when connected to terminals to manually upload data to complete missions or select the item and choose to give it to the recipient?
There could be cool dialogue elements that come with uploading specific volumes of data or handing over items. What if the data is corrupt and as you upload it to a terminal someone is really using you to hack into the station network. I have also come across interesting items as well. What if repairing circuits to open a jammed door or build things required you to walk up to the door and take your cursor/reticle and aim it on the broken panel and then you bring up your backpack menu and select a circuit switch or electrical fuse and the item is pinned in the panel and you use the arc tool to fuse the two ends to the panel to open the door. Item or data based problem solving and puzzles.
Maybe in the future a guard walks up to you to demand that you can't proceed through interplanetary customs without travel permits but perhaps thats too meta.
It seems like all the ingredients are there to make really compelling loops to make missions diverse, extemely interactive and drawn out.
