more customization of stations

The building aspect that colonization brings is nice. It would be nice to see more customizable aspects of port building. For example: being able to choose your station interior from those availbe instead of being tied to economy type. As the system architect it would be a nice perk.
 
Personally I want to see the lighting outside being customisable.. Imperial stations have a certain blue lighting, federal stations red and alliance stations green. If you're an independent you're stuck with some sort of ugly default grey or white. Give us the damn LED's fdev

Red or green exterior lights could make things confusing.
 
I definitely agree. A few paintjobs are...the options we have. I would love to customize the lights and landing pads, like on a fleet carrier. I could see an argument against changing the actual interior as it's tied to station type, but I would like to see it too.
 
Agreed. An argument could certainly be made that interiors reflect economy and should be maintained for continuity. That being said it’s really just a cosmetic aspect. Seems that, if you’re going to give someone a perk of some kind for all that work of hauling, cosmetics would be the way to do it without substantially changing any mechanics.

I don’t think the docking bays differ much if at all between the Coriolis and Orbis/Ocellus (feel free to correct me if that impression is wrong), so it wouldn’t be too noticeable if you could change them to your liking. But it might potentially cause issues if say you wanted an asteroid base interior inside of a non-asteroid base if there is anything non-visual to it, like collision models and whatnot (and we all know the docking computer loves to seek out easily avoidable objects).

Or the other way around, at that… plus it might look a bit strange to go into a full metal interior of an excavated (ice) rock.

Well...🤔...I like the idea in principle, but I would rather be able to add cosmetic objects to the inside of stations, specifically just outside the hanger lifts inside the station or, inside the main pedestrian entrance, the foyer, bars, and areas that don't have any objects in them as such.

Types of cosmetic objects that would also lend themselves to some animated graphics would further enhance the effects.
1/...Water features, fountains, aquariums that could contain fish (tropical, cold water and Saltwater Sealife or water 'creatures', aquarium plants and air pumps (bubble makers).
2/...A selection of various fish / crustacea, water snails or more 'exotic' creatures (dev's discretion).
3/...Ambient lighting for, or contained in these water features to further enhance the affect.

So...you could pay arx for a standard small, medium or large module (modules would be of different sizes depending on what the object is portraying). Also individual fish species whether earth based species or alien varieties, again alien species would be artistic licence from the devs.

4/...Exotic plants, (Various either in 'pots' or other containers. Sculpted objects, vases or statues etc. in varying sizes, animated objects (these could cover many design ideas, wall clocks, freestanding clocks, or random automatons.

5/...Then there's wall decorations, colour schemes for different areas of the station, and just maybe some alterable lighting effects to enhance the general ambience of certain areas.
A futuristic juke box in the bar?...you could select what type of music you'd want to play...Rock & Roll, Classical, Jazz or maybe some soothing mood music or native folk music. etc....or just synthesized sounds, 'space' orientated, retro or modern.
Perhaps the retro music from the previous games?...Elite 2 or FFE. :D

Last but not least :rolleyes: (bear with me)...Perhaps some animated station 'pets', various variety's of Dogs, Cats or even a ...hum, perhaps a pet Panther with a diamond studded collar, to go with your new Panther Clipper Mk2! ;)...(It could even accompany you on your travels by sitting in one of your co pilots seats!....:oops:...but that would come under ships interiors I suppose, and that's a different topic...sorry). :ROFLMAO:

Edit...these 'embellishments' would specifically be for player created stations of course. Ha!...just thought of another one , 'Bonsai Brain Trees'! :cool:

I would also consider it irresponsible for the health of the animal in case of sudden maneuvers (well, as much as that giant brick will be capable of them) or a sudden unscheduled disassembly, but I don’t think that would stop humans from doing it anyway.

Stations? Well, best hope they don’t suffer a sudden sprouting of another kind of flower, is all I’ll say there.
