Engineers More speed required.

G'day all,
after interdiction, I want more speed when boosting away, do I upgrade the power plant or the thrusters?
Thankyou.

Thrusters. Dirty Drives modification - the higher grade the better. :)

Power distributor too - Charge Enhanced can reduce time between boosts (if the charge capacity is not reduced too much in the modification).

.... assuming that you already have a decent Power Plant.

Thankyou Robert,
yes I have an A grade power plant and A grade power dist, it just when Iam bounty hunting and need to get away with all the ships on my tail, i need more speed to boost while waiting for the fsd to kick in. will look into engineers for dd tuning, cheers and thanks

Felicity Farseer offers DD G3 modifications.

What ship are you in? There are Class 2 and 3 Enhanced Performance Thrusters available at Farseer too....

Robert,
Iam in an Anny, already have Felicty DD thruster upgrades to grade 3, so to get to Prof Pailin its a huge grind to get to Grade 5. I will just have to fly a little more carefully.
What catches me out while bounty hunting is that the target, after scanning indicates its wanted in the left panel, but when i fire, I become wanted, does not happen all the time , but enough to cause me concern.
Suddenly having everyone in the res ext site ,high... shooting at me and being mass locked causes me some concern while i try and boost to get outa there.
Any suggestions?
Cheers D38

Becoming wanted for firing on a viable wanted target is just down to firing a little early (I'm guessing the server hasn't registered the target as wanted and you've fired a few milli-seconds too early) I reckon most of us have been caught out at some time, I'd suggest giving it a five count before firing.

Ceekay, Oh!, Crikey will try that and see what happens...Thank you.

Maybe unrelated but I thought the same thing was happening to me, I would go into a RES site and pick a target then all of a sudden everyone was red and I would die in a tiny little puff of ash. At first I thought oh my turrets hit an authority vessel, then my mind wandered over to the fact maybe as stated above I hit someone, got a wanted status and once again got blown away. Then I realized I had a bit of gold in my cargo and every pirate was coming after it.

Also on the quest for more speed, weight is your enemy, Not to sure how much you can reduce an Anaconda but less weight = more speed as far as I know. Now I know this link is for a much smaller ship but there is some really valuable advise in here as well that may help you (bonus it is not that long of a thread so it is easy to find)

Robert is correct. The Distributor is key, in the number of boosts that can be performed before recharge. A max (overcharged) power plant is assumed. Dirty Vs. Clean is a source of dispute, but either will help.

One more thing, if you fire your thrusters with flight assist off, your speed will degrade at a slower rate.

I know, its frictionless space and an object should not slow down but that is a different discussion.

This may help you to gauge the value of Palins G5 DD

7A DD Optimal Multiplier 133% (a typical average I believe) fitted to my Combat Anaconda.

Top Speed 272
Boost 362

Good Luck CMDR.

- Upgrading the power distributor doesn't directly increase your speed, but it will let you boost more often.

- Upgrading the power plant will not make your ship go faster by itself, but it will let you mount more powerful engines which should in turn make you go faster. Once your power plant is producing enough power to run everything, you don't need to boost it further.

- Dirty drives will let you fly and turn much faster in exchange for increased power (plant) draw and heat generation. They are great.

- Clean drives will let you go a bit faster and turn a bit better in exchange for a large increase in power draw and less/more heat generation depending on the exact situation (it's complicated). They are better than nothing, but worse than DDs except in some highly specific circumstances.
