Most famous female video game characters of all time

Lara Croft no doubt.

Pity they changed the games(and character) completely

Serana from TESV: Dawnguard.

Fantastic character and let's not forget that she is who is with the Dovahkiin through one of the greatest scenes in all Elder Scrolls as they quest for Auriel's Bow in ancient Snow Elf ruins.

Where to begin! There have been plenty of great femalle characters in video games.

In no particular order, here is a list of those that marked me the most:

Princess Peach.
Princess Zelda
Lara Croft
Tali Zora vas Nomandi
Samus from Metroid
Millenia from Grandia 2
Krystal from Star Fox.
Angela from Seiken densetsu 3. (Trials of Mana)
Aerith from FF7.
And of course Claire Redfield from Resident Evil.

Many others out there, but since I haven't played those games I will not mention them.

Lara Croft.
Any other answer is wrong.

EDIT: To clarify, I am joking .... I just happen to like Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider games a lot.

Lara Croft is probably the best known. Well, maybe other than Mrs Pacman. Or Sonia from Mortal Kombat.

My favourite have got to be Alyx Vance - that's a well-written strong female character. Edith Mossman is very plausible as well. Chell from Portal is fun to play, but her Dialog is kinda sparse - although the hilarious GlaDos makes up for it.

I really liked Faith in Mirror's Edge - especially the fact that her character could complete the game without ever killing anybody (the "test of faith" achievement) - which I felt was an interesting and original way to play a game very similar to an FPS.

I think the first female character I played was choosing the play the girl in Ant Attack on the spectrum way back when. Another memorable one was the hero(ine) of Saboteur II.

There's actually been a lot of good female characters in video games. Some are stylised in a sexy ways, but then again most of the guys look like greek gods with a decathon habit. So......

Dialog? What dialog?

And you are right of course, I did forget to add Alyx Vance and Chell.
