motherlode where ?

Hello Folks,

I spent almost a hour to find some fissures to destruct but ... I must admit, they didn't show up.

Did you were more lucky than me ?

Despite the pulse scanner and the glowing yellow ... I only managed to find subsurface and surface crop. I didn't want to bother to aim in my Imp Clipper... so I kept looking but maybe I should run a counter until I see one of them.

The RNG wasnt' suppose to vanish in beyond ?

or do we need dev magic command to make them appear ?

Thx , and sorry, i was a little frustrated today.

Fly save commander. Be the motherlode be with you. <o<

Hey Sedilbur, there is some RNG to it. I suggest you try again.

1) Use the DSS to find a hotspot. Go for something exotic, like Alexandrite or Opal. I find they show up better than the old commodities (core-wise).
2) Fly to the center of the hotspot
3) Point yourself towards the planet, and fly in a straight line prospecting evrything in your path that glows yellow
4) You'll find your cores

Again there is some RNG to it. Sometimes you find 1 in 20. Sometimes it's 1 in 50. You just have to be persistent and keep at it.

And the hotspots are huge... millions of meters or miles or whatever across, so distance from center shouldn't matter. I think I finished my last run at 800km from centerpoint last night. Found plenty of cores.

Didn't take me much time to find one actually. I also only picked the really brightly glowing asteroids and ignored most of the orange ones.

I've only found a handful from beta through now. Wish FD would bump the spawn rate a bit.

Also, in my experience playing beta, you might just be in a ring or a hotspot that just seems to not have any. If you go to a different ring, sometimes you'll find them immediately. I wouldnt hang about at one ring getting frustrated.

Yeah, this. I burned through 128 prospectors last night and only found one core. I should have pulled up stakes 1/4 of the way through my stock and hit another hotspot. Don't stay in one place, getting frustrated. Make the RNG work for you

The problem is if they bump it any more it might be a little too much of a gold rush.

That's interesting, I could use 128 limpets to mine old school and easily fill 192t of 3p. What's the return look like? I wouldn't mind searching longer as long as the pay out is the same/better.

Fun rush.

(And really - there are so many get rich quick schemes now, I think bumping mining up a bit from where it's at wouldn't be beyond the pale). ;)

I think mining could be worth more as well. Maybe just have motherlodes abit more common?

Well, just had a session in which I mined 99 alexandrite and 17 of something else, almost as valuable which netted me around 30mil. I think it was roughly 10-14 pieces per core. But I do have to say that the cores are not very common at all. You have to comb through a hotspot for quite a while. But then again, I was somewhat selective in what I actually prospected, only stopping for the bightest roids. I also noticed that roids often lose some shine on the 2nd or 3rd pulse as you get closer to them. Ones that don't, that stay bright even when you get up close, are likely to have cores in them.

Maybe make them more common, but with a slightly lower yield? Balance it out - credits for fun?

Well, I imagine that it might also be a performance issue, they might not want too many cracked asteroids close together.

OK, I'll concede that cores need an RNG buff. Twice now I've burned through 100 limpets on glowing rocks, only to come up with one or two crackable cores.

Agreed..
I would love to see the experiment of RNG increases and massive mother lode mining - to the degree that commanders drop into these hot spots to randomly hunt for ppl, and calls for nerfing the payouts begin to be seen on the forums...

edit: for that matter... reduction in the cost (or increase in the Qty.) for limpets synthesis would also be sweet.

Agreed on the limpets. 10 per synth I'm thinking.

I learned that there is only one "model" of crackable asteroid per ring type. Once you know what a crackable rock looks like for your current ring (ice, rocky, or metallic) it's easier to find morherloads. Still is rare but at least you avoid needless prospecting if that's all you are after.

My hour and a half tonight netted me 4.7 million from low temperature diamonds from two cracked rocks.

Wow, Jenner, you're more observant than I am.

Meanwhile I've gon back to strip mining RES sites... it's still fun. Happy to have both the old tools and the new.
