Fyi: On the media usage side I have engaged with Frontier (a very nice man called Ed Lewis) and they have confirmed it's acceptable to use gameplay in the movie provided we attribute it in the work. Which clearly we're very keen to do anyway as it is a) cool and b) may sell a few tickets for the live show.
On the "do we get paid" side the short answer (99.9% probability) is "no" but everyone will get a credit in the film and on the album & there will be a profit-share element and I have no idea of the algorithm that drives that kind of thing at the moment. The snag of course being there probably won't be any profits to share unless it's a hugely phenomal success - ie beyond the current marketing view which is that I'm aiming to support a couple of weeks run at the Edinburgh Fringe in a relatively small venue and a "collectors item" run of vinyl albums, ie 500-1000 maybe many of which will be given free everyone involved and to selected ticket holders (cos I don't want them in my attic for the next 10 years). The movie will be available on YouTube and if we're really happy with it we may kickstart a DVD issue instead maybe. The music will be available for digital downloads so if we get it to sell millions that way we're all quids-in. ["don't dream, it's the hope that gets you"-John Cleese.]
To get things rolling you could invite anyone interested to PM you with the following details:
Timezone
Daily/weekly availability
Approx location in the galaxy
Ships owned.
They wouldn't be giving a firm commitment at this stage, but it would enable you to get an idea of where in the galaxy there are groups that would be of the right size with simultaneous availability and appropriate ships.
