Moving save file from epic to steam launcher

Is there a way to transfer my saved game from the epic launcher to the steam launcher. I have run into a ton of issues with the epic launcher and this game and I'd like to move over to steam which is a more mature platform (and where I have 99% of my games already)

UPDATE: it seems they would just move everything to a new character, except for my stats, name and squad. Instead of an update that we have to pay for (eve online gives for free) crossplay and the ability to move characters from the epic launcher to the steam launcher would be appreciated. Many other games do not have this problem. Hell, fortnight you can play on your phone then on your computer (if I'm not mistaken) against someone on an xbox

I'll not delve into the cross-platform issue, sticking instead to your original query. I thought that you could simply link your Steam account to the Frontier account that you use to play Elite Dangerous.
If you go searching for Epic posts on these forums, you'll find many of late (obviously). By far the one I found to be most helpful is the one by Arsen Cross (linked below). While it's not directly addressing your situation, I belive that the answer is in there. Look at the first bulleted item in his post under 'Rules for Elite accounts obtained via Epic Games Store'

Yes? No?

My mistake, I thought (and does) use the same files, from the same folder as the steam version does.

This character is not an alt but a main character. It's not my fault that the epic launcher cannot authenticate my account sometimes.

Move? No.
But: your CMDR is stored at FD and identified by the email you use to login at FD. So, if you do what Arsen Cross advises against in his first bullet point, i.e. link your Steam account to the same FD account as your Epic account, you will only have one CMDR.
You will still have two game installations on your HDD, but they will both use the same bindings and settings, as those are stored elsewhere and under the game's control.

As to his point my character isn't established. It's two weeks old. I linked my epic and steam account to my FD login.

I talked to frontier support and they can only move the value of all my stuff to a new character even though I am moving my character from PC to PC. Further more you do not have access to my computer or file system. Before I made this post I thoroughly searched my file system and was unable to find any duplicate files. I could launch two of three instances of EVE Online from the save files.

Thank you for trying but this is FD's problem

Well, this is a dumb policy. I was trying to switch from Epic to Steam and found that I can't. I guess FD misses out on a sale.

Hi, I have the same problem as the OP, can anyone confirm that if I buy the game on steam I can continue my same character?
I don't want an alt and I have no time to grind again.

You can, and other people whom enjoy whizzing their money into the wind have done it too.

Hello, sorry for grabbing the old thread, but it seems to fit perfectly to my situation.
In short: Have the free game from Epic with Horizons, I am willing to buy it on Steam incl. Odyssey, but I don't want to lose my Commander and all his stuff. Also I don't want a second one.
I have linked my Epic and my Steam account with Frontiers, I can see it here: https://user.frontierstore.net/
But what exactly do I have to do now to "transfer" my savegame or whatsoever from Epic to Steam?
Thanks in advance.

Nothing?
If you link your Steam Account to the same Frontier account you have used for your Epic Account, you're good to go - edit (but you do need to buy the game again on Steam - i assume you already did that)

edited for extra emphasis

Try a ticket with Fdev support. However I do not think that (in this case) Epic will like it. The Epic launcher is a advertisement product and they want you to visit it and buy games from there.

Short question in addition: Do I have to uninstall the Epic version first before installing the Steam one? Or can I install them both in parallel in theory?
