Multi-cannons not firing

I was playing earlier today and working on a Massacre mission. I was circling one of the ships I needed to take out when my multi-cannons started firing very inconsistently. They weren't reloading, they weren't malfunctioning, they had a proper lock on the target (they are gimballed), and I had plenty of power going to them (power to weapons was maxed). When my target was at 2% hull integrety they stopped firing all together. Again, they weren't malfunctioning or any of that. They just would not fire. Very irritated and wondering what was going on.
 
Only thing I can suggest is that you might have been just out of range for the turrets. They have less range than other types as a rule.

Had an issue last night where my MCs got stuck in reloading. I had to power them down and back up to get them going again.
 
If you're using class 3 multicannons, they have a very long spin up period. If the reload cycles get out of sync, it can appear that they are misfiring.

I was using class 1 multi-cannons, and they stopped in the middle of firing but I never got any malfunction indication. This happened multiple times.

Could be whatever button you are using as your primary fire was malfunctioning? Anything that might interfere with that like a script or voice attack command?

Was your window correctly focused or did you have any menus open... because I use fire and hat buttons in my menus if I have one open none of those buttons work.
 
Could it have been that the guns didn't have a straight line to the target? That happens a lot with the lower hardpoints on vipers (and probably other ships where the hardpoints are on the bottom or near the back of the ship), where the guns will stop firing until you pitch a bit and they have a clear line to target. There's nothing in the HUD to let you know this is happening though.

Could be a bug, but could still be a range thing. Only applies if your MCs were Turrets and those were the ones that were not firing.

If you are using MC Turrets, the various spin up times, potential in and out of range issues, you could still be running up against something to do with Turret behavior.

Also double check your TURRET WEAPON MODE in the FUNCTIONS panel on the right side of the cockpit. Sounds like you want FIRE AT WILL to be the setting.

That actually could be it. I didn’t think them being on the bottom of the ship would matter.
 
I have the same issue now. Bought a vulture and kitted it out all ‘A’. Muliticannons won’t fire at all no matter what I try.

Went back to Jameson, swapped them out for regular canons and they worked fine. Return to Jameson and swapped to multi cans again... this time they worked. Very odd
