Multi Crew voice comms lag issue.

Just tried Multi-Crew for the first time and we had a 5 second lag on voice comms. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
Both PCs are newish(ish) and Hi Spec gaming machines.

most cmdrs use a discord or steam group room voip methinks as the game uses peer to peer type networking coms "connecting your call then disconnecting as it were like an old school tel operator...…. which is far from great
where as discord or steam etc host the voip room {instance} constantly via there central servers so is a far more reliable coms method
you can always copy the nasa beep sound for transmit end
best you can do for elite coms is ensure upnp is enabled in both router an pc either way but your still limited to peer to peer reliability which can be notoriously bad

I've only used the in-game voice comms once by accident and noticed the same issue. However one thing I did like was the filter it added to your voice giving it an almost CB radio sort of sound. Is there anyway to do such a thing via Discord? Thanks.

I don't use it myself but you could maybe record some his[3 deg] or effects ect using audacity then use this to add to outgoing voip https://www.voicemod.net/soundboard-for-discord/
I haven't looked into it but could probably use voice attack to do that too if you have it  which imo is the best game enhancement software since sliced bread.
I mean you could get your ship to respond to spoken klingon if you wanted using VA lol (mine responds to a little ancient Sumerian):alien:
