Multi-monitor/monitor configuration support

Hi FD,

Can you implement native multi-monitor support? Along with this, can you implement streaming displays so that alternate info, such as navigation, communication, etc, can be displayed on external hardware such as an iPad or Android tablet?

Sure, you can use nVidia's or AMD's multi-monitor support, but I know nVidia's implementation is bugged, and I cannot speak for AMD, because I don't own an AMD card.

My reasoning for this request is multi-faceted.

First, with native multi-monitor support, the default expanded cockpit view will increase immersion without having to mess with nVidia's buggy support, or AMD's implementation.

Second, native multi-monitor support should allow the user to specify what is displayed on each monitor. For example, monitor's 1-3 can display left, center, and right views. Streaming, interactive displays can show the navigation, communication, info... panels. You can place these panels anywhere you want, but they should be in positions relative to what the cockpit should be. Imagine a commander's chair with the first three monitors act as your main display. The panels can be attached to the commander's chair and the user can interact with them by touch.

Third, with native multi-monitor support, and streaming, interactive panels will allow enthusiast to build 3-dimensional 360 degree, sealed cockpits with the ship projected around them. The commander's chair will be in the center of this cockpit and custom made panels will show info from in-game panels. It will be as if you're actually in the ship!!! We would also need Elite space suits, complete with helms with projected OSD's and technology to view the projected ship in 3D. This one is on you, FD. :-D

If we had this ability I would definitely build my own 3D 360 degree 3-dimensional cockpit, complete with a commander's chair, special effects like smoke, flashing lights, custom panels, buttons, etc, and maybe hydraulic actuators to lift, spin, shake, and fling the cockpit around as the ship would react. This would be nirvana.

Of course, I can only speak for myself, but I'm pretty sure others would want this, too. And it could open up new business opportunities by selling cockpits and Elite space suits!

What do you think?

I would like to see this done I run on three 4K monitors and the biggest problem I have is the Galaxy map the UI in the map is spit right down the middle of two of my monitors and it makes it hard to use

Speaking of, has anyone been able to get nVidia surround working properly? I have two 1920x1200 monitors and it always messes up my start bar. And the bezel feature never works.
