Multicrew feedback from my perspective

Hi,

yesterday i had another multicrew session, that reminded me painfully whats wrong FOR ME with it

  1. KWS and probably the other two scanner

those can/must be used by the gunner if present,
yet as pilot, i have ZERO, really ZERO indicators that they are beeing used by the gunner at all.
  2. Prospectors

there you put effort into it to share the asteroids content data between the helm and the crew
from my experience this was the most counterproductive thing ever done in the Multicrew-beta.
why? because the result is that, unlike in wings, the asteroid has only content for one crew-member.
and that prospectors are still fired only straight forward from the ship, despite the fact that the gunner has zero indictor where that is....
  3. Default scanner in supercruise

let the gunner out in turret mode so he can assist looking around.
i can (must) deploy wake scanner in supercruise to use it anyway, so why not allow external camera for the gunner?
  4. USS spawns

why are those not generated synched in wings/multicrew. my crew has no clue what i am doing unless i tell them

are all those things limited by the Peer2peer limits? or whats the issue?
and why does my crew not gain CGs points , despite the CG description explicit telling that they do, and multicrew invite includes CG as reason...

That would be because multicrew was designed hamstrung.

Similar to NPC crew, whose ONLY purpose in life is to work with hangar bays, yet they get paid for jobs they do not help with at all.

  • Multicrew has absolutely crappy networking, with rabid disconnects on MOST H-jumps.
  • There is no consequence for bad behavior, any fines and bounties land on helm, and griefers can just decline the consequences of their actions.
  • Multicrew does not get paid very well for bounty hunting. Any solo work in any half-decent ship pays more than multicrew fighter deployment.
  • SRV does not function in multicrew. FOR ANYONE, even helm. There is no point for a multi-bay planetary hangar, aside from having spares.
  • Multicrew doesn't get paid AT ALL for exploration. A session is likely with someone thousands and thousands of LY away from turning in anything.
  • Multicrew mining pays worse than solo mining, and solo mining is a waste of time as well.
  • Multicrew hauling is even more boring that regular hauling, and that is kind of impressive. And you're likely to disconnect, if you even get a share when the helm sells.
  • No reputation change for anything, either.

So, it was designed as a waste of time, and billed as the primary feature of an entire 2.3 release.

thats no multicrew issue, thats wings and peer2peer in general

there are no consequences for the helm either - the fines and bounties are deducted and cleared as soon as you end the MC session.
rebuy is reduced significanlty with crew

its not that bad. combat payout is actually pretty balanced for the risk involved. The reward for mining multicrew is crap (5% trade voucher)
  • SRV does not function in multicrew. FOR ANYONE, even helm. There is no point for a multi-bay planetary hangar, aside from having spares.
given that 20km are no distance for a ship, but a journey in SRV, i understand the reasons for this, but a multicrew SRV would have solved that completely

MC doesn't offer exploration benefits at this moment, crew can't do anything
  • Multicrew mining pays worse than solo mining, and solo mining is a waste of time as well.
that was in my post already
  • Multicrew hauling is even more boring that regular hauling, and that is kind of impressive. And you're likely to disconnect, if you even get a share when the helm sells.
there are no multicrew missions that would have like 300 times increased risk to be interdicted that would give a gunner/fighter pilot something to do
  • No reputation change for anything, either.
its good and bad. its worse that the missions are not shared (and with that i include CG and PP mechanics)

So, it was designed as a waste of time, and billed as the primary feature of an entire 2.3 release.
