I've found MC to be a great and very welcome addition to the game and one that works just fine (though I must say being able to use SRV in MC would be most welcome too).

Being able to fly SLF with mates while NPCs mans the helms would be nice too...

"Welcome to MC, you can no longer fly your SLF lol"

This is a big part of what kills MC. Cmdrs quickly find out that the things you imagine having a blast doing with MC is not allowed.

It's certainly true that they somewhat over-egged the pudding on the marketing (presumably all this was in initially but they backtracked because of exploit issues or some such thing?).

But the chance to even just ride as passenger on others ships and see their gameplay as well as check out their ship and also have at least some impact on events works well enough, for me anyway. I've experienced the unpleasantness of having randoms drop in and try to wreck things and also heard stories from other CMDR's who had similar and presumably that's what's really restricted it - that there's just no way of stopping g*t* being g*t* other than by severely restricting the functionality. Plus ca change.

I don't think people being Berks is an excuse tbh. If each player had a rep system it may police itself if not players could just use trusted members

I started playing ED after MC was out, has nothing to do with marketing. It's safe to assume, at a minimum, that what one can do flying alone they can do with a mate onboard. Like fly my SLF.
